Yeah, Phil's excuse that KC can't watch the 4-hour documentary WITH him because it would take too much of their precious time and he could never ask them to do that...but instead they're going to watch his reactions along with the documentary, which Phil has already said will take "a week or two" for him to do...is a pretty stupid excuse even for DSP.

Someone involved with KC probably is because clipped videos with halfassed edited thumbnails during Phil's stream have been posted.

Here's a look back at the Steel Toe VS DarkSydePhil saga. Toe mostly just played clips from DSP detractors, and commented about Phil's behavior in whatever the video was. It was a large part of the show early-2022 going in to early 2023 IIRC. Sometimes there would be 45 minutes of Phil clips and commentary in a morning show episode. The commentary would often break down to a defence of how Steel Toe earns money, and how they were different from Phil.

It's mostly this. I think people can forgive and even accept e-begging when it's someone actually putting effort into things, which is the case for most youtubers/streamers. Even if their content sucks. at least there is some effort being put. Even the most low-effort videos I made (just highlights of game sessions with friends) took a few hours of work, so I can understand if someone puts like 20-30 hours of work in a video and then sneaks a little beg or patreon segment.

The fuck does Phil offer? His content is subpar and lazy even by 2012 standards. These are no longer the times where you could record a 1hr unedited Minecraft session, which even then only a select few could make, but Phil doesn't get that. It's his idea that everything he makes is solid gold that he even thinks "unedited" is somehow a feature. He doesn't get how utterly unpleasant his voice and face are, or how his gameplay is so mediocre and boring to watch because he has zero sense of discovery and how he doesn't even edit out the parts where he berates the dents for talking about anything but the boring game.

Not to mention, you have to cover the costs of every game so he can play them. Sound good? Now tip during the playthrough otherwise he quits. He's so demanding for what little he offers.

The begging by itself thing is not a huge issue the but the crying poor while doing it I think is why most people have a problem with it.
Like claiming because he didn't get the money he wanted one stream negates any money he made the day before is ridiculous.
