Personally, I see a lot of the protesters as a sign of something that the Left has been fostering for a long time that has finally started bitting them on the ass: single issue voters. The Overton Window shifting to the right has started making it so that the Left is increasingly unable to support all of their bases single issues while also drawing in moderates that happen to hold some of those positions.

For example, abortion was a big one, especially right after Roe vs. Wade got shit-canned, and they used that sentiment to great effect! However… now that things have settled down, plus with the economy having worsened, most moderates aren’t going to be supporting NATIONAL abortion legislation like they would have before, either because they have bigger issues or just that it has returned to the individual states to decide. That means that they can’t appeal to those people dressing up as abortion pills and more moderate people with the same policies… and in theory they need the moderates more.

But considering that’s far from the only issue that has undergone that sort of shift… I think this protest is at least partially built on natural sentiment, as the foundation of their already unsteady platform continues to slowly collapse in on itself.
