GSI wasn't meant to be used by end users ala (for devs and I guess tinkerers). Linus' stupid ass doesn't seem to understand how to look up information about the shit he want's to talk about. In a way think of it like this since you said you like apple. You're used to apples ecosystem but you'd be irritated by FreeBSD because it's basically what MAC is based off of, aka "Stock Mac". Is there any quality control anymore? Rhetorical question I know, but it seems like someone other than Linus is greenlighting these ideas in the writer meetings without fully thinking them through, and then they film it just to have videos up, but it just makes the channel look even dumber.
When it doubt, just do a simple PC build at a given price. It's been so long it would actually be nice to see a 2024 PC build for $1,000.

Android still has issues and I don't understand how the makers (google) of the OS still can't make a build thats a smooth as ios. Everything on my pixel 7 still feels as clunky as it did on my my G1.

Timelines come first. A "Good enough" script will, and repeatedly has, gone out, and its consistent that there are errors and retractions, the only discussion is whether they're noticed or not.
That would be exactly the sort of thing I'd expect from Gamers Nexus, dude loves to go and talk and interview with technical people about things. Hard part might be finding a rom developer at the intersection of technical knowledge and presentability for a video, but there's enough commercial and community roms out there that you could probably find one.
Hell, Wendell could probably brush up on it enough to do a video together in a presenter/audience stand-in format like they usually do. It'd be a fun idea with some graphics to go over the timeline and whats come from where, actually.

The smaller youtubers with technical content will want to collaborate with GN more than LTT as the LTT audience is not likely to watch something technical and "boring".

Bad defaults, some settings (very very few) not working properly or at all and bad default applications? Seems about right for stock android but nothing that can't be fixed by downloading alternative applications and configuring your phone properly. Other than that though, this seems perfectly useable? "As it was in the past", maybe I'm going insane but this seems about right for what stock Android has been like since Jellybean and Kitkat?
I think when people talk about stock android they are probably thinking more like the old Cyanogen ROMs or LineageOS which to me just seems like a properly configured GSI image.
If Linus is still out to get a new phone why doesn't he just get a normal flagship from Samsung or Xiaomi? Should have all the faggot modern features he wants while still being a faggot modern phone. I'm not a phone sperg, since they became mobile, it's felt more like a leash than a utility; sure it's cool I can watch YouTube and shit on it, but I'm not a dude chasing trends. I got my first smartphone in 2011, upgraded for a new job around 2015 or so, then a new one in 2019 when the battery fried and damn near started a fire; I'm still on that one and have two giant cracks running across the screen from dropping it about 3 years ago. Every single one's been Samsung and while there are differences here and there, they've been mostly the same; it's not like going from MAC<->WINDOWS<->LINUX and being all "Whoa?! Where's my X Y and Z?!" Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm out of touch, but a lot of his phone complaints just have me sighing and calling him a fag.

Linus is disillusioned with perfectly regular things since he's been basically smothered with the latest shit that he basically he gets for free, I think the stock Android video perfectly captures that. Crying about how the phone doesn't automatically cater to him by unlocking the phone when he inputs the correct pass code like he probably doesn't already have a fingerprint scanner and facial recognition built into the phone that he's just going to use in place of the code. Besides it's not like having the phone automatically unlock if someone has the correct pass code is some kind of security concern, also my phone from a couple of years ago doesn't automatically unlock if I input my code, but it's like he's just trying to find an none issue to complain about so that people can go agree with his points.

Its weird to me for someone to be so obsessively phone connected that they need every little thing gesture mapped and 'predictive', if saving half a second with an arcane action is such a time saver in the long term when you add it up, you're on a phone too much. If every message and email is essential right at this moment and you can't let it wait, go to your office and use the real computer.
