Fallout series

The funniest thing about Ulysses in my opinion is the fact that his face isn't real.
What do I mean by that? You ever notice how during dialogue he never fucking blinks?

That's because his entire head/face is actually a mask item. You can really tell at times the shortcuts they took due to budget.
The weirdest part though is that Ulysses actually has a fully modeled face under there too but you would never see it without editing his face model to delete the mask from it since it's literally part of the model.

Only reason why I can think that they bothered was that they originally did plan to have his face be visible but then changed their minds later. Or maybe it's just a leftover from when he was meant to be a companion or something. Either way it is odd.

This is likely just a technical limitation since they would have to make a whole new race just for him otherwise. This is exactly what the mod where he becomes a companion does, if I recall correctly

Ulysses doesn't have a point, he's just a schizo. Sure, officially he's supposed to be some sort of badass rival character of yours, or Avellone's own OC character that he uses as a mouthpiece
probably why I hear so much praise for his OCs.
Another fun fact, he's also one of the few characters in the series to have 10 in every Special stat.
The only other 3 being the two optional boss characters from the same DLC and Frank Horrigan himself.
He really is Avellone's OC. :story:

kreia and ulysses are both people who look down on all sides for having faults while thinking the only solution is to destroy everything in the vain hopes something better will replace it
you know, instead of just what was already there coming back again, like it kind of did after a massive dark age and the literal apocalypse
Which is why I love finding all of his logs and throwing his own words back at him to prove he learned nothing over the course of his travels.

"Who are you, that do not know your history?"

Pretty sure you can do the same with Kreia at some point too, by pointing out that her fence-sitting has removed all perspective from her.

Yeah I noticed that, I think it was more so "we have to have the final boss be really strong but can't have him be high in only Strength and Endurance or else people will look at his stat line and make fun of him" or something. Realistically I think it would be...5-7 STR (Old Glory hits hard), 7-9 PER (he survived this long after all), 7-10 END (all the radiation, all the Marked Men and other shit), BearBull (1-4) CHA, 3-6 INT (he's a retarded schizo but he's decent at tech it seems, he also seems to think he's smarter than he thinks), 5-7 AGI (bet he had to climb and run around the divide), ? LCK (I really don't know, probably 10 since he managed not to get nuked or die from the upheaval following it).

I think obsidian just doesn't know how to give characters SPECIAL stats like how they made Arcade have more Charisma than Ceaser. Probably gave up by the time they got to Ulysses and maxed him out.

It's a crime how underrated Fallout Tactics is. Barely anybody knows about it, let alone have played it. Even then, Todd officially considers the game "non-canon"(which doesn't mean a lot when the Chicago BOS is quite literally mentioned in Fallout 3 and when Todd considers the TV show canon) so that turns off normalfags even more.
Even if you never played the game, I think you should still experience it, at least. Here is a good video about it that covers everything: The good, The bad, The ugly and the it's troubled development process. I think he only made one mistake, CHR doesn't determine your recruits only your rank does(but high CHR increases your rank faster, so that's partially true)
Obviously, I recommend the game itself as well, especially in this drought of content, but the game IS a big commitment: It is the longest entry, one with a high skill requirement of entry and one that is janky as hell. Due to the lack of QA testing, the late game is extremely unbalanced, like Grimbeard says, and you will likely just be plinking uselessly with your small guns at the enemies as they pulverize your squad with energy and heavy weapons. Still, for all it's faults, there is a genuine oldschool Fallout experience here, and the closest thing we will get to the third proper isometric RPG in the franchise.

nah fam ill pass. vidja are things i do when i have a little time and dont want to see some movie. i really dislike the argument "this game plays like shit but its really good i swear".
when i want to play janky broken games i fire up saints row 2

Honestly reading your post just reminds me why there is such a major divide with the Fallout fanbase.
It's basically inevitable since the series literally changed genres from a 2D isometric turn based RPG to a 3D open world action RPG.
Both appeal to two completely different groups of people so it's pretty much inevitable and somebody was going to be mad regardless of the crappy lore.
Normies don't care about what is or isn't canon. That's the kinda shit only people who frequent online forums dedicated to a specific video game care about.
This and even Bethesda themselves don't really care that much about their own lore. I mean, I remember reading somewhere that someone asked either Todd or someone else at Bethesda a question regarding Elder Scrolls lore and the answer was basically "Whatever the current writer feels like."
And I imagine that attitude probably extends to their other franchises as well.

Truth be told I don't really care about canon or lore either. I pretty much only care if the story being presented to me is actually engaging or interesting. Gameplay can only carry a game so far if there's no reason to care about what you're doing.

how it runs on ps3? i dont have any legacy hardware besides that. and i dont think you can find the cd so easy
I only know how it ran on 360. And it was good because it wasn't done by the branch of THQ or Volition or whatever that fucked up the PC port.
that was ages ago though

The gameplay itself is fine, the main gameplay loop is actually a really good fusion of Jagged Alliance 2 and classic Fallout combat. Problems arise from the troubled development, but I can't name any Fallout game where that wasn't the case. It's a tradition at this point.
Game balance is the biggest problem for newtime players that won't know it's coming, but the early and mid game is fine. Still a better title to play, in my opinion, than something like Fallout 4 or 76.

Bethesda is so retarded on how they could get an easy cash grab by making a retro remake of the old Fallout engine. We get that the average gaymer wants his cool 3d effects, but indie shit proves that graphics don't matter compared to gameplay. The amount of content they could make for a Fallout Texas game (online or offline) in an isometric form would be a more prominent revenue maker than 76. I could see people going through hours and hours of this map to see how Texas is faring in the southeastern wasteland.

And also karma determining how lucky \ successful you are at the end. Karma never worked like this in any other Fallout, it just determined how various people react to you.

Also I found a funny mod for a challenge run. Might actually try it at some point just to see how well it goes.
I could also combo it with some of the Stewie Tweaks settings like the one that makes moving during combat cost AP as well as opening your pip-boy during combat and such.

Could be fun to try. Basically the closest you can get to simulating the original combat system. Definitely not perfect but probably the closest you're going to get.
Might try it my next run alongside the stewietweak's settings that make it so performing actions while in combat costs AP like opening your pip-boy. I'll have to test to see if draining AP while just moving around would be too restrictive or not. But I do genuinely want to try it just to see how it goes. I probably won't play the entire game with this setup but I might try to beat the main story with it just to see how it goes. Will report back when I begin.

Also I can't help it this classic UI is stupid charming to me. Maybe I'm just autistic but again it's so much more interesting to look at than the default UI. Normally the camera is focused on Doc so the pictures he shows you get cut off unfortunately but this one time for whatever reason it was framed perfectly.

Hell the fuck no on remakes, everything they touch turns to shit. As for why they don't do it anyway? If they make it like the isometrics, normies probably wouldn't touch it, then again Wasteland 3 did well despite being an isometric even if it was just around 2 million+ players across PC and consoles. For Bethesda it'll probably be too much of a risk, and it would be quite a bit of work to make it like modern Fallout since I don't think it would translate well in a 3D environment without it looking awful and without tons of work they probably don't want to do. They might as well make a new Slopout game at that point to keep those zoomer's attention because "old bad, new good." Doubt they'll go back on their public statement of "fuck that, let's not dig up those corpses."
Side note, I'm starting to dislike Chris Avellone now.

Apparently he found them specifically too silly and also didn't want the player to sympathizing with monsters, same with that faggot Tim and Leonard. Given that I'm pretty sure Tim likes nu-fallout, lol.

Ehh, I can understand that viewpoint, time is our most precious resource after all. But you should give some jankfests a try so long as they aren't notorious for breaking your saves or some unplayable shit, because again...time. Some of the best experiences I had was jankfests.

It's a 2008 third party PS3 game. As long as you're fine with it running at ~25 fps, I don't remember it being particularly buggy or needing any hard resets at all.

or whatever that fucked up the PC port.

That would be CD Projekt Black, their localization studio before everybody was folded into Red to force Witcher 2 out the door.
