Found the "Bowtie Cult" (or w/e it's called) south park AU thing in the SJW art thread and the colors are just atrocious. I tried my usual "just run it through a few filters in Photoshop" thing since usually the pee-stained overlay coloring is just one lazy yellow filter, but these were so uniquely bad they couldn't be fixed.
(note: I think the leftmost is an OC, but then it's Kenny, Wendy, Kyle, and Stan.)
I didn't want to redesign it since I don't know anything about their faggy South Park AU, but I really did want to fix the colors, so I just took Wendy and traced it so I could color it in myself:
Wendy's OG palette was super bright/saturated compared to the dark/dingy AU, so I tried to meet somewhere in the middle with recognizable Wendy colors that weren't super intense but still read as "purple and yellow" instead of "pickle brine green." Honestly, my biggest question was "why didn't they make Wendy non-binary if her pre-existing color palette already matches the NB flag?"
I tried to make the patches on her jacket match the GF flag colors, or at least be similar, so the palette wouldn't be too cluttered. Then I went full SJW and just slapped a gradient map over the whole thing to make the whites yellowed and the everything elses purpled. I think it came out pretty good, despite the cluttered design it's more readable at a distance, it's brighter but not too bright, the colors are pretty homogenous, I think it came out well.
Truth be told, I wouldn't design a character this way, but while tracing the lineart I did notice a bunch of things the original artist did well that belied they DO have some art knowledge. Optimistic, but maybe someday they'll branch out and make art that doesn't end up in a cringe art thread on Kiwifarms.
