I was a fedora atheist and now I'm still ann atheist, just stopped being a smug cunt about it. I am very aware of how my morality is based on a Christian culture and every year that passes, I'm more aware of how crucial that moral compass is for society.A few years ago, I stumbled upon this video of a young woman being asked why she's Christian. She gave the best answer ever, and articulated it so perfectly, and I'm kicking myself over the fact that I can't find the video again.
I'll never be able to word it as eloquently and as perfectly as she did, but here was the gist of what she said:
She said that she's a Christian because Christianity follows an absolute code of morals and ethics, and that there are objective rights and wrongs/goods and evils. Christianity helps guide people towards what's right, when society wants to keep redefining and morphing the definitions of what's right.
Kind of reminds me of my absolute favorite quote by any author ever, too:
“Progress means getting nearer to the place you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turn, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man.” - C.S. Lewis
I'm entirely opposed to abortion, however, I think that the heartbeat laws are a decent compromise. In an extreme minority on the Christian right, but I support 1st trimester abortions and maybe early 2nd only.
There’s really not many other Christians like that that don’t bow to the alphabet crowd, which I don’t at all.
Abortion is something I don’t speak about with friends or people in the church.
Trump wants to give abortion laws back to the states to decide, which I’m fine with.
He’s not imposing a ban, he’s just not making it a federal issue.
Women will have to figure it out from there.
it wasn't that bad outside. a couple of people breached the fence but the small gathering of the protesters (no where near the 30-40k promised) walked around and did fuck all. where's the spirit of '68 i kept reading about? Is it just me, or did they blow their load on the big speakers the first night because of what a shit show was outside?
It would be interesting to see that’s for sureBecause if Republicans do it, it will be evil and not enough and the goalposts will just move. It HAS to come from Harris herself.
Source on the literal infanticide thing?I'm entirely opposed to abortion, however, I think that the heartbeat laws are a decent compromise.
If you are a sexually active woman, and you don't care to pay attention to your cycles and don't bother to take pregnancy tests, then that's on you. If you have "bodily autonomy," then you should be on top of that shit like a "strong independent woman" should be.
The problem with the abortion argument these days is that the left has veered so far left, than they are demanding that infanticide be legal (not even just late term or partial birth abortions), and that our tax dollars should fund them. "Safe, legal, and rare" is a far cry from what the left is demanding these days. It's absolute insanity and pure evil.
I am still having hard time with it since i am European. I am sitting here from the waysides and pulling my hair at the bans and no bans at all.I honestly think if a state overwhelming wants that, more power to them, that shit only hurts themselves
I just think it’s a result of how diverse and large the country is. we have states that literally want abortions up To the day of the birth and others don’t want it all, so it seems to me the only logical choice is let different areas pick what suits them. I do think it’s worth noting most places are somewhere in between and just want euro style abortion lawsI am still having hard time with it since i am European. I am sitting here from the waysides and pulling my hair at the bans and no bans at all.
" So let me get this clear maam due to texas and few other states banning abortions you allow third trimester abortions also called child sacrifice to Moloch"
Just the absurdity of it kills me. I guess the fundies were right again somehow .
Before that were right about state mandated homosexuality. Apparently somehow.
Are your fundies prophets?
Just take a gander at Tim Walz's record in Minnesota. The abortion laws he signed are fucking insane.Source on the literal infanticide thing?
What I don't get is how a woman would not have any serious questions about her body if she doesn't have a period for 8 straight weeks. If you have PCOS or some other hormone disorder then maybe, but you would still go to the doctor, no?If you are a sexually active woman, and you don't care to pay attention to your cycles and don't bother to take pregnancy tests, then that's on you. Damn I knew New York had such a law but I never thought this would fly in the Midwes. Minnesotans do be a special type of faggot tho. It must be the scandi bloodJust take a gander at Tim Walz's record in Minnesota. The abortion laws he signed are fucking insane.
Neglecting a newborn child to the point where it is left to die because the mom decided last minute that she doesn't want it or if the newborn survived the abortion is infanticide.

I kind of file it as part of the american mentality. Their huge ambition and go big tends to apply ... well, to everything. I'm also a eurocuck where the abortion thing is a non issue and thankfully it has been left alone, no push to go full moloch sacrifices.I am still having hard time with it since i am European. I am sitting here from the waysides and pulling my hair at the bans and no bans at all.

While I agree you that it’s abhorrent to abort them at 9 months (though admittedly, I’m a Catholic Radical on the other end, so I view any and all abortion as abhorrent). The fact remains that it’s simply not in the feds power to stop that.Bruh 9 months pregnant abortions. I mean come the fuck on there got to be limit to this lunacy. I am all for first 12 weeks no questions asked. But after like unless the fetus has serious disorders or mom is going to end up dead or crippled you don't do it.
People that actually advocate for abortions past the first trimester (barring any extremely rare situations), are messed up in the head. They often just try to make it seem like it’s not a real human life, and often just end up dehumanizing infants as a whole because they get viewed as an inconvenience. I still think it’s human life at conception. I understand we live in an imperfect society where there may be times where abortion might be the right choice, but it being the actual right choice is also a rare occurrence. Second and third trimester abortions are more prone to causing harm to the mother, and shouldn’t be taken lightly. The Democrat messaging around abortion is off putting because of that, as it gets treated lightly, and seen as even an accomplishment among the most deranged. I will never actively encourage someone to get an abortion, but I do understand it should be available for first trimester only for the majority of people. Anything past that to me is unethical and can cause future fertility complications in women that do it past that point.Bruh 9 months pregnant abortions. I mean come the fuck on there got to be limit to this lunacy. I am all for first 12 weeks no questions asked. But after like unless the fetus has serious disorders or mom is going to end up dead or crippled you don't do it.
What you say makes sense, and I understand completely where you’re coming from as being 100% against from a religious standpoint.I'm entirely opposed to abortion, however, I think that the heartbeat laws are a decent compromise.

I think abortion is fucked up but, if you're going to do it, do it early. How the fuck are you gonna get to three months (12 weeks) and not know?
Also, what's so hard about using contraception? What's so hard about non-penetrative sex? There are so many ways to prevent pregnancy that I have zero sympathy for people unless they live in a shithole country and do not have access to contraception.
If it was seen as a heavy choice to make and not something to celebrate as a quasi-religious thing we wouldn’t be in this situationI kind of file it as part of the american mentality. Their huge ambition and go big tends to apply ... well, to everything. I'm also a eurocuck where the abortion thing is a non issue and thankfully it has been left alone, no push to go full moloch sacrifices.
In the US it seems like very much an all or nothing sort of deal. I personally stand in abortion is baby murder, I'm not opposed to it as such (hell, I activelly endorse it on niggers) but I am opposed to trivializing it. It's a heavy decision and a sad thing when an abortion happens, that parts of society consider it something to celebrate disgusts me. You aren't ready or prepared for the kid or just don't want the responsability of child rearing? Fair, but there is also the heavy respinsability of cutting that ember of life short, please don't trivialize it.
