She's getting shit on from multiple ends right now. One over her son absconding, and two over obvious family issues, since she felt the need to post a video responding to "the haters". Her using Nurie as a shield, while still appearing righteous, 100% makes sense in Jill's mind.

Jill would have to be borderline unsafe to live outside of an institution if she believed lurking online as Nurie would allow her to escape all those backhanded messages. If anything, people are more likely to send them to Nurie.

Uh, Jill *is* borderline unsafe to live outside an institution, and has been all of her adult life. She clearly suffers from hypermania / bipolar type II, in addition to her narcissistic personality. She rarely sleeps, and demands perfection from everyone around her - which is impossible, so she's always on the rampage. This is then concealed from the general public with her uber chipper social media profiles. It only takes one of her adult children reporting the conditions under which their younger siblings live to trigger another CPS investigation. Unlike many abusive families where there's not a high enough threshold for removal, Jill regularly starves her children - for the Lord! - despite having the means with which to provide them nourishment. Jill has been in desperate need of psychological intervention for years.
Jill doesn't want to escape backhanded or even overtly negative messages - they feed her constant need for attention and engagement. It seems like someone she actually fears judgement from is enforcing this social media break: either David finally put his foot down, or the pastor of their new church told her to cut the shit or get out of this (very new to the Rods) congregation.
Eh, it depends from region to region. Baptist tend to be more reserved than the Pentecostals, but the lines are often blurred between the two. Bapticostal. My grandfather considered himself Baptist, but attended a Four Square church and spoke in tongues. My uncles were in the IBLP, and did not. Most Baptists I knew didn’t do it in church, but would when ministering in private. Weird shit to watch. The main southern Baptist faction frowns on it, but let’s be honest. No one cares enough about rural Appalachian churches with 17 member congregations to really do anything about it.
