Zack's biggest selling point, other than being funny at the time and all the drama caused by Waid and assorted retards, is that he ultimately seemed like a friendly, normal guy with a somewhat tragic backstory. When I found his channel before CG became a name, it instantly made me want to take his side because he seemed like an underdog who was genuinely just interested in making his dream book and talking about comics earnestly, without any regard for sponsors or industry contacts. His terrible video quality and awkward speaking style just added to that impression. But I don't think people finding his channel these days will have the same impression, and I don't think the same kind of audience will return.

You can criticise him about who he sides with while at the same time be sad at what happened to him. He took the cowards way out because he cared more about some industry karens than his own fans who were trying to tell him they stand with him. It's a shame but the one most responsible for his death is Ed himself.

It's such a stretch to pay high prices for crowdfund stuff and wait years when you can just read a comic like this for free instantly. This is clearly the standard at this point.. read it on the web and buy collections later if it's worth owning. Donate to the creator if you like it and don't need any copy of the book. Sorry crowdfunders I gave a few a go but @FROG, Dan Fraga and other late and gay creators proved it wasn't worth it. Not saying to stop printing books because physical books are an exellent archive against digital censorship and revision etc, but get with the times.

Fair, they piled on. It does not change the fact that the people that pushed hit to suicide were not those he scoffed at but, rather, those he called peers and friends. He could take or leave the words of KF, 4chan, FB etc. It was the fans that turned on him before they heard the whole story, the friends that ambandoned him and the peers that smelled blood in the water and who got to cancel someone after so long.

I recall, back when this happened, people cited precious little in the way of examples of this huge epic Piskor vs CG fight. It seemed to me that Piskor barely even acknowledged CG's existence.

I think what CG might have been trying to do was gloat about the left eating its own. Which is fine, I guess, but to say there was this big mutual fight between Piskor and CG doesn't seem to track.

Sometimes I think the non-CG comics creators, like Ed was, pay way less attention to CG than this thread does. CG is not the threat it wants to be.

The only examples I'd ever heard of were anecdotes about the Kayfabe guys deleting comments that mentioned CG generally and Zack specifically, as he talked about their content so often that his pre-culling audience began watching CK and shitting up the comments. I also recall someone saying Piskor shit talked EVS at a con somewhere but I can't be bothered to look for specifics.

He made some awkward comments to a girl a couple months from turning 18. Kind of strange, maybe even a little bit sus, but nothing overtly sexual.

In theory he could have watched Drinker's more analytical stuff from his first couple years before the latter started straight-up prostituting his content for views. But since it's Zack we can safely assume he's created an entire model in his mind about a widely known media source after little to no exposure, like when he picked up some random "My Life Reborn At Level 1 As Fuko-chan's Vibrator" or whatever and pronounced doom on manga.

Or when he started playing videogames last year (this year?) and started waxing professorial on the storied history of the medium.

This would be the worst. It's fine for Zack to start playing videogames at 50 and talk to his audience about them, and relate them to what he knows (comics). But he obviously has some insecure need to speak authoritatively on the history of them, comparing them to games (real and abstract) that he has never played. I probably don't need to explain what that is an absolutely awful idea that is. He could probably establish an interesting back and forth series of videos if he threw in some question marks, but unfortunately he banned everyone who would answer his questions.

Manga would be a better bet because everyone is agreed that Zack is quite capable of holding forth on pictures of dudes killing guys. But he would have to accept it for what it is. I can even understand his dislike, to a degree, but there's a hell of a lot of videos to be made by a complete newbie just doing the "classics". People would have had interest in viewing those before he banned them all.

His reviews of the show were mostly positive up until the end, which made me actually wonder if Disney cut him a check.
