no Z-A news doesn't fill me with a sense of confidence.
has the evil sorcery of France birthed something so horrendous that they can't even share any details?
optimistic take: I think they're waiting for the Switch 2 to be properly revealed before showing anything, as to market it with that system.

And that's it, no Z-A news doesn't fill me with a sense of confidence.
lol I told you so
kind of a shame, but i'm too busy being a smug bitch about it to be disappointed so wheeeeeeee
I'm a bit confused myself, but I can't say I wasn't expecting it. Highly doubt that this has anything to do with the Switch 2 since they seem to be saving Gen 10 for that console's launch (understandably so) and, given how they treated P:LA in the past, I highly doubt they'll give Legends any more spotlight than is needed during a content drought. The first game didn't sell very well and, despite the fanbase's near-Stockholm Syndrome levels of love for it, Z-A's reveal kind of just continued the pattern of Gamefreak not giving much of a shit about Legends. They definitely revealed it way too early and at this point I'm betting we won't even see the absolute basics of the game until the final quarter of the year (if at all in 2024).

edit: I just realized they only showed off Mobile Game slop during the entire closing ceremony
when Ishihara was explicitly referring to "Pokémon Games"
they're going all in on the mobile train aren't they? TPC's fucking president referring to Master Sex as an exciting future Pokémon game in the year 2024 lmaooooo

I don't follow VGC too closely but I saw Wolfey was undefeathed day one, right? How did he place in the end? He's the only "pro player" in the current format I'm really aware of lol

I do no think that is even the case. Pokémon Legends: Arceus, despite its flaws, just did things very differently in some areas, even if half-baked in some cases. There is also a bigger emphasis on freedom even within its 'move from section to section' gameplay.

Legends Arceus sold almost 15m copies anyway and almost 7m week one. It's the 14th best selling switch game, outsold BDSP week one, and only just gets edged out in lifetime sales by BDSP by about 200k sales.

For a first spinoff, that's great sales.

Compare that to Pokemon Conquest, another great spinoff, that couldn't crack 200K week one.

Also, is there a ROM hack yet for Omega Ruby/Sapphire that makes it harder? The actual game was an absolutely shitty remake and it still pisses me off. Or better yet, is there one for Emerald that makes it harder and implements the Gen 4 physical/special attack split?

Edit: Thanks for the recommendations for Radical Red and Pokemon Elite Redux earlier in the thread. Will check them out, but I'm looking for something a bit more "vanilla".
I'm currently playing Revelation Emerald, and without spoiling my thoughts on it, I would definitely play it if you want a vanilla experience but with some nice quality of life changes, like the physical/special split. Not sure if the game is now harder, but it has enough changes to warrant a playthru.
I also recommend Trigger's PC, which is a Gen 3 Pokebank between both GBA and GC games with many more functions, like being able to check IVs/EVs, Hidden Nature + Power, trade-evo Pokemon(which you can do in this romhack anyways) and even do things like change your pokeballs on caught Pokemon or de-level them to lv 50 if you are going to the Battle Tower/Frontier.

Ah, so instead of actually giving the devs enough time they created the illusion of giving the devs enough time by revealing the game before they even had anything to show. Can't wait for another region full of people who hate their jobs

Iron Thorns ex just jumped from 2 bucks per card up to 13 bucks a card and I'm fucking livid. But then again I only have myself to blame for not jumping on it earlier.

To be fair all of the mobile games (barring Pokémon TCG Pocket*) shown off during the closing ceremony have competitive scenes that are actively supported by TPCi while the Legends games have always been billed as single-player games with some interactivity between players.

And yes, a lot of the major tentpoles in the Pokémon fandom like Serebii are saying that's why there wasn't any sort of PL:Z-A news at Worlds.
Is anyone going to try out that TCG Pocket thing in October, or is it not even worth it?
I have it "pre-ordered" on iOS but I also have access to Live right now. To be honest I'm not sold on Pocket's gameplay yet since TPC hasn't shown us anything yet for some ungodly reason.

That's part of the reason why I was surprised there were even rumors that there was going to be a PL:Z-A reveal at World and was surprisingly cool when that didn't come to fruition. Would it have been nice? Definitely, but it wasn't absolutely necessary. Rate me optimistic, but I am taking this as a good sign since maybe TPCi/Game Freak learned a lesson are taking their time to develop and release a polished game rather than unfinished mess like SV. This is speculation on my part, but I'm guessing that we will not see Gen X until 2026 because A) it will be on the Switch successor, and B) coincides with the franchise's 30th anniversary.

Been playing Pokémon Colosseum recently. This could be nostalgia talking but it has a certain charm to it compared to the other games. Maybe because I was thrown off by NPCs openly flirting with your character and the lean towards a "PG" feeling compared to the mainline games. I like the region , feels a bit more rural and underdeveloped compared to the other ones. Sad that you never really hear about it outside the GC games. Think my only real complaint is that animations can be janky at times, it's especially noticeable when you use moves like Fly.
Also this is still easily one of the best battle themes.

Really liking this simple build. She needs a name though. Any name suggestions?

Just so you know, I did a review of my time with Grand Colosseum, a great romhack of the game, if you're ever interested in playing it again(and an XD romhack called "NeXt Gen")
So, I'm ready to do my write up about Pokemon Gale of Darkness ROMhack known as Pokemon XG: NeXt Gen. First of all, here are a few posts to refer to while reading this one:

As for the Ninetales, it's a pretty good build. I would call it "Amaterasu". Note that if you play either romhack, you get access to an Alolan version of it as well as the Kantonian one(same goes for Marowak). If you took my advice with Trigger's PC, do note that there is a point of no return for those games where you will be unable to load your savefile into a program, I suggest you check when that is in either game and create a backup file right before those points in each game.

Colosseum was an unpolished gem with some actual heart put into it. By no means perfect, but it has just enough goofy edge to match its low polygon count that I love it all the same. I had been playing through a hack of it per suggestions in this thread, but I switched from Windows to Linux Mint a while back and haven't bothered trying to get a gamecube emulator to work on my new setup yet.

Edit: Name the Ninetails "Miles" to embrace the Autism.

Was made by a team who literally hadn't played Pokemon before.

I don't like the whole catching and clensing shadows and IMO the environments are a bit sparse and boring for a GC title... I can see why people like em though.

Now that you mention it, it may be a very real possibility. Last time we got this much radio silence it was with USUM and it's pretty clear that happened because there was nothing new to show.

Still, time for some long overdue predictions/wishes.
  • Story takes place right after AZ fired the Ultimate Weapon.
  • Mega Delphox and Chesnaught. No idea what will be done with Greninja as it already has a form and it's clearly the favorite.
  • Mega/Primal Xerneas and Yveltal. I better see Mega Yveltal, I've waited a long time for this  And it better not be as ugly as Origin Dialga and Palkia.
  • Stray Unova mega as it has as many megas as Kalos does.
  • Mega Charizard Z.
  • Mega Raichu (more of a wish than a prediction but oh well).
  • Woman Sycamore.
  • Woman Lysandre.
  • Man Diantha.
  • Alternate form/new member of the Lake Guardians or the Treasures of Ruin. So far they're the only minor legendary trios that haven't had either of these. I'm betting on a Treasure of Ruin.

man, pokemon rumors and leaks were so much cooler back then. The "find mew under the truck at the docks" is still my favorite one.
The environment that allowed those rumors no longer exists.

>”you can find mew by using strength on the truck after completing the pokedex and catching five of every pokemon, I would show you myself but my older bro deleted my save”
<”wow I better start catching!”

>“you can find mew by using strength on the-“
<“yeah I just found a youtube video where some guy datamined the entire game and reverse engineered the code five hours after its release and that truck doesn’t have any intractable elements so you’re wrong”
