>”you can find mew by using strength on the truck after completing the pokedex and catching five of every pokemon, I would show you myself but my older bro deleted my save”
<”wow I better start catching!”

>“you can find mew by using strength on the-“
<“yeah I just found a youtube video where some guy datamined the entire game and reverse engineered the code five hours after its release and that truck doesn’t have any intractable elements so you’re wrong”
Let's be real, this is much better than deluding impressionable youths into wasting their time

'I'm not lying! I got Mew in my game...'
'...that was hacked. I got that same mod. There are hundreds of mods that let you catch Mew, a few that copy those same rumours.'

Been playing Pokémon Colosseum recently. This could be nostalgia talking but it has a certain charm to it compared to the other games. Maybe because I was thrown off by NPCs openly flirting with your character and the lean towards a "PG" feeling compared to the mainline games. I like the region , feels a bit more rural and underdeveloped compared to the other ones. Sad that you never really hear about it outside the GC games. Think my only real complaint is that animations can be janky at times, it's especially noticeable when you use moves like Fly.
The only good post-gen 2 Pokemon game.

I miss shit like that. There's just no mystery in games anymore. If the game isn't being stripped down to the most basic code, there are millions of people playing it that quickly find any sort of secret or Easter Egg or whatever. 95% of playground rumors were bullshit, but they were still fun.

Just so you know, I did a review of my time with Grand Colosseum, a great romhack of the game, if you're ever interested in playing it again(and an XD romhack called "NeXt Gen")

As for the Ninetales, it's a pretty good build. I would call it "Amaterasu". Note that if you play either romhack, you get access to an Alolan version of it as well as the Kantonian one(same goes for Marowak). If you took my advice with Trigger's PC, do note that there is a point of no return for those games where you will be unable to load your savefile into a program, I suggest you check when that is in either game and create a backup file right before those points in each game.
I may have reached that point since I tried loading my save and nothing showed. I'm getting ready to do the elite 4 but getting my team ready and breeding a bit. Gen 3 is AWFUL for breeding damn. Thank god for PkHex to help with the process, couldn't imagine doing it 100℅ legit.

The team I may go with:
Ninetails
Bellossom
Swalot
Crobat
Gardevoir
Cradily
(Heavily debating swapping someone for Cacturne)

Plan to transfer these guys and more to Colosseum once I beat the story, and then to other games and romhacks. Eventually they will wind up in Ultra Sun and Moon to maybe transfer to a newer game. Not sure on that yet.

I'll give those GC romhacks a try, didn't even know they had one.

(Thanks for the name suggestions btw. Leaning on Amaterasu.)

Sometimes modern devs try to do something like that, but it almost never lasts. Probably the biggest example I can think of is The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, where unlocking The Lost was this process of dying in very specific ways in a specific order, so the community was supposed to figure out what deaths were needed to trigger each step. The whole thing was datamined a few days after the game’s release. So next time, the devs went for an ARG that waited until each step was completed before patching the next clue into the game.

Or you have something like Deltarune where the devs just leave a secret message that says “pls don’t leak anything you datamine, thanks”, which might delay it for a day or two if they’re lucky.

That would be something a Toby Fox game would do.

But yeah, I have seen a few secrets that actually have yet to be solved, but overall it's a lost cause trying to build any mystery and it's a bummer.

It has its charm, but when you're a fan of more niche games the lack of information can be annoying. For a Pokemon example, Gates to Infinity doesn't have much technical information online, even sites like Bulbapedo have very incomplete info on the Pokemon and items you can find in dungeons. There are some things I know about Gates to Infinity that I've never seen mentioned on a wiki.
Funnily enough, when I was younger I'd spend hours on Eastern Savanna trying to recruit Kyurem because for some reason Bulbapedo said it could be found there (it couldn't).

Let's be real, this is much better than deluding impressionable youths into wasting their time
Quite true, it's also just interesting to see the inner workings of a game, but that might be because I'm interested in gamedev.
That said, it kinda contributed to the wikification of games you see nowadays. Many gamers nowadays are no longer willing to experiment, they immediately resort to a wiki as soon as they find a puzzle they can't complete on the first try (if they even try at all). Some developers have adapted by either idiot-proofing the puzzles to the point they're no longer puzzles (Pokemon is here), or by including a wiki with extremely specific technical information inside the game itself.

His ace is a male milotic and he's a contest master, he was already a mega faggot.

Unrelated, but I wish there were more "minimalist" romhacks out there. I've been wanting to do a nuzlocke of HGSS lately but the level curves are absolutely fucking atrocious and really drag the whole thing down. You can use the universal randomizer to bump up the levels, but it's not a perfect fix, and all the halfdecent romhacks for the games are drayano-tier "uber mega difficulty overhauls with 5 extra generations of pokemon and a dozen sidequests" when I just want to play the fucking game without having to grind level 30 geodude for the elite fout.

Really liking this simple build. She needs a name though. Any name suggestions?
You should name it "Cat". See, foxes are considered to be canines, so they have more in common with dogs than cats. Everybody knows dogs and cats are total opposites to each other and don't get along very well, so it would be hilarious to subvert peoples expectations by naming it "Cat". After all, who would have a dog named "Cat", or a cat named "Dog"? Nobody would ever expect it!

Imagine you're eating dinner with your constituents, and one of them looks over and notices you playing Pokemon on your red Gameboy Advance SP. As a former Pokemon fan himself, he's interested in revisiting his childhood memories of searching for Dugtrio in Diglett cave, that is until he notices your Ninetails is nicknamed "Cat". He looks up at you and says, "that's clearly a nine-tailed fox, why on earth is she named Cat?" You look up at him and begin to laugh. "She's a dog named Cat! Funny isn't it?" You continue to laugh hysterically while your constituent is left in utter confusion. He's left only with his mind to piece the puzzle together for a moment, until finally it clicks. The fox is named "Cat", but clearly it is not a cat, it's a canine. It's completely absurd, the world has flipped upside down, and that's the whole point! Realizing this, his confusion is broken with hearty laughter. "Yes I suppose that is rather silly isn't it?" he says as the moon settles in the sky and your Pokemon journey continues throughout the night.

You could also name it "Star Fox".

Another day. Another journey through the hell know as Emerald Rouge. It actually went pretty good today. manage to not only get past the 7 gym leader, But beaten two of the elite four as well. i just got really, REALLY unlucky with some battle's and lost half my team (got to love sucker punch). What shocked me the most is how hard gliscor carried me through the journey. I was planning on getting ride of him as soon as i got him but that fucker more then earned a spot on my team. sword dance+acrobatics kicks ass.

I played so much, i more or less have a pre-team ready to go whenever i start a journey.

tyranitar: My starter. Set up stealth rocks and earthquakes. simple as. Just got the TM for dragon dance, Making him more OP.
Electivire: Choice band/volt switch combo
Gyarados: Physical attacker with waterfall after setting up dragon dance (which he learns on his own by level 45, which is insane!)
Girafarig: Have it carry a Eviolite for that sweet defense/spdef boost and set it up with a nasty plot

The rest are just randoms i found on the field. Had a zangoose with poison orb and facade that was surprisingly strong. Sadly, i think i will replace Girafarig with gliscor for a bit and see how that works out.

i also cached a jirachi which was cool.

Recently I joined a group that proposed making a TTRPG based around PMD since the concept sounded really cool at a first glance, As of now the thing is still on active dev but despite it being still in pre-planning/alpha phase, there are a lot of red flags on it already. Just take a look at the start-up page in this character creation sheet:

What identity politics do to an otherwise prosperous idea (Why does everyone goes to Chuck's instead of Sneed's by default?)
As expected most of the people working on this project are LGTVs, tumblrites and/or orbiters of those both. (Hell, the original creators are a they/themite and a troon and it definitely shows). The character sheet itself is 11 pages of sheer autism coded by a single woman, they're dedicated though so I'll give them that.

Part of me wants for them to finish the thing so I can properly sterilize the game to make it as pozz free as possible and actually playable to everyone with common sense. However, with the sheer level of 'tism involved on it, I don't know if I'd be able to keep up with it or if it will only get worse as more progress they make on it. Any fellow kiwis curious to see just how deep this rabbit hole goes are free to check the spreadsheet itself linked on this post. Just a warning though: This thing was not designed with ease of use in mind, so be advised in case you actually want to take a crack at it.

Imo I don't think reworking gender-based moves is a bad idea for the sole reason that if I were to be a DM I'd find it incredibly fucking annoying to have to give genders to every single encounter. Pronouns for literal ice cream cones are dumb af though.

Also, if you don't want to work with the poz, there's already a couple PMD-themed TTRPG systems out there. I've actually DM'd a few groups with them myself. It's nothing fancy since it's more or less just a massive fanbook for 5e, but it's pretty thorough and has at least up to gen 6 in terms of statblocks and movesets.
