Maybe someone else said this already, but the issue with Pence and the election certification revolves around the claims that Pence (as Vice President) did not have the actual power vested within his office to call the results into question... only to have Congress remove that very power from the Vice President (Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act of 2022) shortly after he did not exercise the power he had the entire time, but which he was lying about.

There is a ton of bloat in hospital administrative staff too. Lots of non-doctors being paid six figures whose sole job is screwing sick people. Hospitals have entire floors for their medical coding departments and all they do is figure out what insurance codes to put on those forms. There's an insurance code for every random thing you can imagine. Shark attack? There's an insurance code. Meteor impact? There's an insurance code. Intentionally stabbed with a fork? There's a code. This is so fucking relatable to me. Working in EMS many of these codes are built into the ePCR systems as dispositions.

One of the most common reasons for a 911 call is a simple fall. In any halfway decent ePCR system there's an autpopulate feature. Because there are tens of thousands of individually coded dispositions, there are some absolutely fucking ridiculous ones in there. During autopopulate for a simple "Fall from Standing" it would first populate "Fall from Spacecraft".

This happened often enough that a few of my partners and I would start referring to fall patients as astronauts. Good times.

Subsection 15 of the amended bill made it clear that the Vice President only had a "ministerial" role and could not actually do or change anything.

“(1) MINISTERIAL IN NATURE.—Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, the role of the President of the Senate while presiding over the joint meeting shall be limited to performing solely ministerial duties.

“(2) POWERS EXPLICITLY DENIED.—The President of the Senate shall have no power to solely determine, accept, reject, or otherwise adjudicate or resolve disputes over the proper list of electors, the validity of electors, or the votes of electors.

Originally the bill listed the VP as an observer who does not participate except for the "right to withdraw".

They basically flipped the rules around when someone actually tried to use them.

Why would they use that power when everyone was in the same club and in on the game? The issue never would have come up as long as the correct people were elected. And they still thought they could control Trump at that point.

IIRC, the VP does (did) have the power to handle the electors if there's conflicting electors or some other issue. Which is why they made damn sure to go after the 1 or 2 legislatures that DID send conflicting electors to DC via lawfare.

IIRC, the VP does (did) have the power to handle the electors if there's conflicting electors or some other issue. Which is why they made damn sure to go after the 1 or 2 legislatures that DID send conflicting electors to DC via lawfare.

Someone explained it like 50 pages ago, and hopefully some1 else has a link, but from memory AZ has fucked elections law that allow only citizens to vote on statewide shit but federal is not counted or some other retarded, convoluted mess. It really should be fixed but it benefits Dems so no chances for now.
