Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) is being accused of anti-Semitism for stating that members of the US Congress should not be allowed to hold dual citizenship with other countries.

"Dual citizens elected to United States Congress should renounce citizenship in all other countries," Massie said Monday on X. "At a minimum, they should disclose their citizenship in other countries and abstain from votes specifically benefitting those countries."

Though Massie didn't call out any country by name, he was immediately accused of anti-Semitism by Jewish Florida State Rep. Randy Fine (R).

"This guy is just gross," Rep. Fine said. "Who in Congress is a dual citizen? I think we all know the slur he is tossing around. The real question is why certain Florida politicians choose this bigot to hang around with."

Fine worked in the Florida legislature to pass the most oppressive hate crime laws in America in order to jail people for sharing "anti-Semitic" flyers criticizing Jews and Israel -- without a care in the world for our First Amendment.

Fine's bill, HB 269/SB 994, made anti-Semitic "littering" (aka leafleting) a felony punishable by five years in prison.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a signing ceremony for the bill together with Fine while on foreign soil in Israel after dining with pro-Israel megadonor Miriam Adelson.

Massie struck a nerve with Israel Firsters earlier this year after he told Tucker Carlson that every GOP member of Congress has an "AIPAC babysitter" who guides them on how to vote in the interests of Israel.

"It's the only country that does this," Massie said.

AIPAC dumped over $300,000 into attack ads targeting Massie earlier this year but he still managed to win his primary election.

Dual citizenship is based on the operation of foreign law, it's usually not something the citizen can control. You're born in country X, your parents are citizens of country X, your parents registered you as a citizen of country X, you are a male-line descendant of a citizen of country X--none of these affect one's loyalty to the United States. Voluntary acquisition of foreign citizenship is another matter and deserves some scrutiny.

Renunciation of foreign citizenship sounds like a good idea, but it can be legally difficult or impossible. Again, foreign citizenship is a matter of foreign law, you have to work through country X's government to renounce your Xian citizenship. The level of effort could be negligible, or it could require international travel and take years to get done.

Abstaining from votes that affect a foreign country would disenfranchise the voters in that district/state, so I think that's a non-starter. "Sorry, Kentucky, your Senator couldn't vote on the consolidated appropriations act because it includes $500 for a commemorative plaque in country X."

Absolutely agree with Massie. In fact, I thank duel citizenship at any point in your life should bar you from office or any position in the federal government.
What if the USA took inspiration on how Israel handles this issue?

Then you have places like the People's Republic of China who don't even recognize dual citizenship. Maybe if a more mild solution was desired perhaps members of Congress would have to declare if they hold citizenship somewhere else or not as a requirement for being sworn in?

potential to be a dual citizen doesnt equal dual citizen

ie all jews are eligible to be israeli citizens but they aren't until they actually get the citizenship

Here is what I came for, thread is already off to a great start with this extremely Jewish line of argumentation.

THE US SENATE [13]

Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) Barbara Boxer (D-CA) Benjamin Cardin (D-MD) Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) Al Franken (D-MN) Herb Kohl (D-WI) Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) Joseph Lieberman (Independent-CT) Carl Levin (D-MI) Bernie Sanders (Independent-VT) Charles Schumer (D-NY) Ron Wyden (D-OR) Michael Bennet (D-CO)

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES [27]

Gary Ackerman (D-NY) Shelley Berkley (D-NV) Howard Berman (D-CA) Eric Cantor (R-VA) David Cicilline (D-RI) Stephen Cohen (D-TN) Susan Davis (D-CA) Ted Deutch (D-FL) Eliot Engel (D-NY) Bob Filner (D-CA) Barney Frank (D-MA) Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) Jane Harman (D-CA) Steve Israel (D-NY) Sander Levin (D-MI) Nita Lowey (D-NY) Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) Jared Polis (D-CO) Steve Rothman (D-NJ) Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) Allyson Schwartz (D-PA) Adam Schiff (D-CA) Brad Sherman (D-CA) Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) Henry Waxman (D-CA) Anthony Weiner (D-NY) John Yarmuth (D-KY)

And that’s just the democrats!

Once again the only defense you have to cover this sort of naked infiltration and obvious conflict of interest is "muh anti-semitism!" Yet at the same time you all cry and whine, "I am so unfairly judged for the actions of the Jewish elites!" Then stop carrying water for them!

Maybe I should I start digging into the committees these people are on, lolol.

pointing out that they aren't automatically citizens of a country just because they are eligible to be citizens is a "jewish line of argumentation"

how jewish of me to point out the obvious

bernie and schumer also denied being israeli citizens so we have more jewish congress members that are confirmed not israelis than israelis lol

Okay so why can't we just ban them from holding national seats? Or at the very least Foreign Relations and Intelligence committees! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person left alive with a functional brain. "Oh yeah it's okay, just the let the foreign power use it's highly exclusive religious cult as a means to subvert the interests of our nation, the holocaust was bad dude."

Behold the work of another Jewish golem being used against it's masters to educate the ignorant:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

when you're so "based" you propose violating the first amendment to prohibit jews from holding national seats. Know nothings proposed the same thing for catholics and catholics are accountable to the pope, surely you would support this for catholic members of congress right

Catholics are humans beings tho.

look up the know nothing party, they were concerned that catholics would follow the vaticans orders blindly

that was one of the major arguments against JFK when he was running for president lol

Wow people were concerned about something 60 years ago that never came to fruition, guess we should just keep letting people with dual citizenship vote to send billions of dollars to countries they're citizens of 🤷‍♂️

just because you're eligible to be a citizen of a country doesnt mean that you're a citizen, that's something people like you have a hard time grasping

No one's conflating this. This is just you pivoting because you don't have a coherent argument as to why people who are actually dual citizens ( not just eligible) should be elected officials in the United States.

im not arguing that, i'm pointing out that you're assuming someone is a dual citizen just based off their eligibility and nothing else

ie this:

Even if you bar dual citizens from holding fed positions, AIPAC still holds a ton of leverage and influence over politicians.

The Vatican City is just that, it has never gone to war in it's entire existence, Israel has practically never been at peace for it's entire existence. Also ironic for the resident of a religious apartheid state to make arguments from the second amendment. Is what is good for the goose not good for the gander rabbi? Semites come here, break our system and then you preach to me about religious freedom. The constant bait and switch, round and round we go on:

Nigga, the name of the fucking congressman is STEVE ISRAEL, I'm dying of laughter over here. Why do you care so much? Why are you in every one of these threads, proving my point over and over again with every reply. If these people aren't operating on behalf of the foreign power you live in, then why the fuck do you care? Why do you care if Jerry Nadler is shitting his pants in DC? and if these people care so much about America and democracy and freedom of religion why haven't they recused themselves from these committees?
