I'm still trying to figure out why I should give a shit about the Palestinian people when they literally elected HAMAS for their government. They did this to themselves. Lots of media networks did incredibly well under Trump with high viewership.

Fox News, OAN, Newsmax, and Sky News Australia obviously want a Trump presidency. They do pretty well even with a conservative majority in office.

Liberal networks either have full blown TDS to a slight bias. Some members quietly support Trump due to the benefits his presidency brings or they at least love ratings/views.

Never been a fan of My Little Pony (aside from playing with some of the toys when I was a toddler/very, very young child), but the popular show that unfortunately got the creep-tastic Brony movement started literally had a pony called "Derpy" in it. From what I have been told, Derpy was basically like Dopey from Snow White. Harmless, right?

Years ago, I read that the character got memoryholed from the show when enough people bitched about it years later, so the character disappeared entirely, which led to this domino effect of people freaking out over the use of the word altogether. Now, nobody uses it anymore.

Sorry if I'm late to this - but as someone who saw all of it unfold.

Derpy basically started as an animation error or someone at DHX (who animated the show) getting away with a background pony who looked like she had severe lazy eye. The original /co/ thread caught on to her and a few other undefined background characters the animation team slipped in. During season 1 it was mostly just a fun injoke because /co/ (eventually /pony/) became quite fond of seeing these characters show up. The grey haired mare was generally recieved well by the early 4chan based fandom.


This happened more often later in production of S1 when the show team was seeing the shows reception. But Hasbro themselves were a little shy of using her themselves. But at the time FiM was really taking off there was a custom tee company called We Love Fine who got permission from Hasbro to officially print fan art for shirts. So the pony known as Muffin/Derpy started to show up but without a name in limited merch.


Hasbro themselves were not sure if they should acknowledge the brony fanbase but near end of S1 and start of S2 they started to embrace it to some level. this early fandom pandering resulted in an episode called "The Last Roundup" in S2. Up to this point Derpy had only been a background character with occasional movement - but in this episode she's actively helping Rainbow Dash and gets a speaking role. I remember the day that episode aired, most of the fandom was thrilled. But the VA had given Derpy a sort of "slow in the head" kind of voice.

Between the early s1 and start of s2 - the brony fandom had since spread to Tumblr and twitter - starting to bring in attention whores, e-celebs and mentally unstable hot messes (the old /co/ general threads generally were just shitposts and artfagging) . Some always online person claimed that because Derpy had been given a retard voice, that made her an ablist characture and she was offended by it. She directly messaged the VA that provided the voice, who was morified because she has a special needs kid so she felt ashamed of the perfomance. There was also an assertation that the term "Derpy" was used in a derogative manner (untrue: most 4chan era fanart and posts were very fond of the muffin horse)


Lots of other fans tried to counter that while the VA direction wasn't the best for that episode, lots of people (including disabled fans) really liked Derpy and were happy to see her in the show more. Unfortunately Hasbro corporate caught wind and freaked out. They pulled the episode from reruns - redubbed the episode (see clip above) but significantly, they had removed the one mention of her name in the episode. Unfortunately this episode was also being printed on the shows first DVD release, a few prints had the old ver - newer prints had the redub. She was also the Comic Con limited pony toy that year (the box had her unamed as well)
After that Hasbro apparently gave word that NOBODY was allowed to include Derpy in any merch going forwards. Planned toy releases of her outside the comic con release were axed and the show team were apparently banned from using her as a character outside the odd slipped in background appearance. This ban stuck for the next few seasons. This was 2013 so this was an early habringer of woke campaigns pressuring companies to remove or alter "problematic" characters


Derpy would eventually "officially" reappear in a one off episode in S5 which was basically a love letter to the fans episode featuring a number of background characters. She stayed un-named in the episode, but otherwise is the main character of the episode. But the merch ban was pretty much held till G4 was over

I voted third party up to 2020. I aligned more with the Libertarians than the Ds or Rs, and they got the closest to getting 5% of the vote for matching federal funds, and I thought it would be good to have that 3rd voice on the elections (Ls got 4.6% in 2012 or 2016). Also I'm in a very solid blue area.

If I was more of a normie of my political bent, and Trump didn't already have my spite vote/funny vote/legit best pres in decades vote, RFK giving his endorsement would cover a lot of what I looked to 3rd parties for, especially with the Ls going a bit off the deep end and wanton degenerates making me rethink some of the L ideals.
