Guy's usually a fag but I'll give him this: It is funny to think that it's been about 5 years and 5 months since Phil sold his mother his '10 Year Plan' where he would cut back on streaming and get a real job so he could be financially stable in exchange for his mother giving him $4K so he could qualify to put the rest of his federal taxes that year on a payment plan.

This is my top 5 of things Phil hears nonstop at night, and when you think about it, they're all incredibly accurate and deep. He will always beg for money, he's not a mature adult, his career is nothing but failure, he dresses like a child and he's lazy.

Anyways, let's get back to the fun. I tuned in for the first time in a few weeks (life got in the way), and holy shit his hair. Whoever cuts him must be either blind or mentally impaired. I knew it was bad but I'd somehow forgotten. Who tells him that having his hair done in that style looks good? I know his hairline is fucked but isn't it the barber's job to work around that fact and mitigate it?

The phil that didn't give a fuck and shitted on everyone. even if our modern phil is only a small ember of that gouty fire that burned decades yor, I am enjoying it. This has been a phenomenon that happened in every forum in the internet and It's gonna keep happening in some way shape or form as long as the internet exists.

Phil electing to make Doody the center of his wrestling feud is the safest option because Doody is basically an alternate timeline Phil. He's a 50 year old dented grifter who generally stays in his lane of providing meaningful clips and robust commentary and occasionally some wild speculations and lies about DSP's personal life, so this arc will be profitable for both of them.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'm actually enjoying Smugside Phil as well. I understand the logic of enjoying Phil when he's had no tips and keeps hammering home the begging, but I also think that's when Phil is at his most repetitive these days. Back in the black shirt begging arcs, we'd at least get Phil making up stories to justify his begging, which leads to tone deaf gems like Phil pretending Jasper is sick and then having to backpedal when the dents point out there's a bunch of emergency care places nearby, then memory holing anyone who asked about Jasper the next day. Or him acting like his parents are days away from dying and how he wishes he could see them one last time. Or that infamous "what are we supposed to do, eat bologna sandwiches for lunch" tweet. Nowadays, he just talks about this being the slowest day and rarely elaborates on what he needs money for, just that it's the daily tip goal to survive.

But Smugside Phil is more energized and manic and more prone to go on crazy rants about who knows what. My ultimate hope is his confidence continues to build and we actually get a Phil who will share real opinions to the bait questions people ask him instead of doing his usual fence sitting because he's afraid of alienating his viewers. If he thinks he's the king and has thousands of new viewers pouring into streams with open wallets, there's a chance he'll start casting aside his regular dented viewers. This is probably the best chance we have of getting a (non-boring) DSP Politics segment.

This DSP, he's cutting promos on dentractors on the pawdcast and calling out anyone and everyone with a confidence and lack of self awareness that gives a lot more schadenfreude then a weeks worth of $10 tip streams.

KO Gaming was probably my favorite phase because we got to see what happens when Phil puts effort into his content. It was sad, and he never improved at it or sustained the effort (which applies to anything about DSP really). But it's still funny if you can stand Phil's journalist voice.

He also used to introduce his KOGaming videos, every one of them, with, "Phil here from KOGaming." Didn't he make the KC guys stop the video to shit on Rich for the exact same thing? Something like "He always says 'Rich here from ReviewTechUSA' like it's not just him." Sorry if that's been noted already. Mark me late and old.

I'm also hoping it means Phil's getting more comfortable with the idea of doing stuff besides gameplay, which tends to be pretty stale outside of Street Fighter these days. He already mentioned how "people pay to see him" on...I want to say the foam setup stream, maybe it was the PC setup one. Either way, the fact he's doing those types of streams at all, as well as the react stuff and hanging out with the KC guys is a sign Phil is getting comfortable moving away from gameplay.

It definitely beats Phil just silently staring at chat waiting to be told how to advance to the next part of the game, interspersed with complaints about how it's the slowest night in history. Don't get me wrong, there's sometimes gems to be mined from those otherwise boring gameplay segments, but it's usually like...a frustrating puzzle segment or boss fight that's particularly rage inducing, but otherwise still a good hour or two of bland, mostly quiet, sometimes literally falling asleep Phil.

I still think by the end of the year, gameplay other than SF6 is gone. It's dawning on him now that his gameplay gets nothing.

If Phil wasn't Phil his streams would be tolerable but all this fake attempt to show change to down criticism is just what it is. We know the second it blows up in his face its back to gameplay streams and the same routine. I used to like KC but I just find it icky when any kind of lolcow commentator involves themselves with cows. Yes PPP is a cow in himself but it just feels weird and I am just so sick of hearing "the king". It's so cringe.
