A 15-year-old boy drowned to death in Chanakyapuri in Delhi on Friday when he went out to play with his friends on a waterlogged road near his house in Vivekanand Camp, said police.
Sourabh was playing on San Martin Marg with a group of friends from his locality. The water, however, was flowing rapidly and dragged the 15-year-old away from his friends in a matter of seconds, said officials. His friends managed to pull him out of the water. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. His body, said police, has been sent for postmortem and further investigation is underway.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devendra Yadav issued a statement, saying that he was very disappointed at “the Arvind Kejriwal government’s negligence and failures”. “Instead of finding a solution to the problems of Delhi, CM Kejriwal wants to get emotional sympathy from the people whereas the public has already come to know about Kejriwal’s corruption…the infrastructure of civic amenities in the Capital has collapsed, which no one is paying attention to,” he said.
Yadav also mounted an attack on Aam Aadmi Party leaders Manish Sisodia and Atishi, saying, “No minister of Delhi is trying to see the plight of people stuck in traffic jams and waterlogged roads nor have they tried to meet the near and dear ones of those who died due to the lapses of the authorities… More than 20 deaths have been reported due to electrocution in Delhi in the last one and a half months. The Delhi government and power distribution companies have remained mute spectators without taking effective steps to prevent such tragedies.
