Good point, I keep forgetting the religious element. Scandinavian countries are some of the most godless on Earth. World Values Survey says Sweden, Norway & Denmark are the least traditional countries in the world, with Sweden being the most extreme outlier. The closest I can think of with wokeshit is the troon character in Tokyo, where it's irrelevant to the story and only ever covered in the optional dialogue, but they have the Ameriboo character tell you that either they didn't date or they did but broke it off not because the character is trans, but because they're a no-affect ex-cultist. I think, it's been a while.

I do remember they got into woke trouble (several years after the game had launched with the scene always included, naturally) with the introduction to your character if you chose to be in Dragon faction. Women felt the strongly implied blowjob your character gets from the female recruiter was evil and wrong and bad. Their fault for wanting to be Koreaboos, really.

They also supposedly got 1.5 million from publisher quantic dream but the link posted doesn't actually say that (anymore at least). That's a bit sad because I liked a few of their games even if they were walking simulators.

I think what a lot of people still aren't quite getting even today is how the concept of incentive has played into how western culture has changed.

You could take up an artform, practice your skills, learn all the theory, learn the traditions and conventions, and then try to put all of it together into one beautifully constructed artwork through hours upon hours of hard mental (and, in some artforms, some physical) work. You would then struggle to compete with all the other beautiful art made now and in the past. You might have failed and made something that isn't beautiful enough, which people will usually let you know about quite honestly and which might hurt. You might make something good but just not find your audience.

Two, you could make something shit but with the "correct," "approved" viewpoints inelegantly shoved in. Before you even finish anything, you might get government grants, NGO money or donations from politically-minded individuals. Then, you will not get any criticism whatsoever - because all the political activists will praise you, and anyone who claims that you made something shit is clearly just a political activist from the other side who only hates it because he doesn't agree with the opinions expressed in the artwork. Political activists in the mainstream media will sing your praises and give you and your art huge exposure.

In the latter case, you got money, fame and a sense of having played a part in an epic struggle between Good and Evil that spans all dimensions of human society, since these people actually believe, like you described, that their shitty video game or soundcloud album or TERF murder fantasy novel will bring about worldwide political change. Even in the best case scenario, the former meanwhile would likely only get you money and fame, since there isn't much societal change one can realistically bring about by writing a good romance novel or developing a fun jump-and-run video game.

So the question becomes, why even try? Currently, as shitty as it is, there is a good argument to be made that being a far-left extremist artist is an objectively better choice than trying to be a good artist. Potentially more money, fame and prestige, for less work. I don't think this shit will stop until that incentive structure is gone.
