This campaign is to help with legal costs, in order to fight back against a serial YouTube DMCA abuser, known as DarkSydePhil.
In December 2021/January 2022, Phil Burnell (DSP) issued knowingly false copyright, and community guideline strikes against my YouTube channel. I was kicked from the partner program as a result. I was reinstated to the program roughly a year and a half later, but I lost an unknown (currently) amount of money during this time.
To make matters worse, DSP claims he doesn't issue copyright strikes to channels, outside of one case where someone was "stealing his content" and live streaming it to their channel. This other channel has absolutely no ties to me whatsoever. Fast forward to April 2023, in a video uploaded to his own YouTube channel, he shows his current copyright flag history, and one of my videos can clearly be seen, in his copyright section. Another video that doesn't show up there, was also struck by DSP for "community guidelines".
He was later asked about the copyright strike during one of his live streams, and flat out denied that he was responsible. Every time the subject is brought up, he either lies, or just ignores the question. During an August 24, 2024 live stream, he once again stated that he doesn't copyright strike channels, outside of the one time someone was "stealing his content" and re-broadcasting it to their channel. Again, this has nothing to do with me, as I have never once live streamed his channel, or any other content for that matter.
I make edited, transformative videos, that critique, review, and offer analysis on the subject matter.
One final thing I'd like to mention is during the video where DSP showed his current flag history, he claimed he later went back and removed the copyright strike from my video (again he lumped me in with another channel that does re-stream him). And the reasoning he gave for removing the strike, was that he "felt they learned their lesson". It's clear to me now that he was satisfied with me being removed from the YouTube partner program, and that's why he decided to remove the strike. The problem is, the DMCA system is not for teaching people lessons. It's for legitimate copyright issues. YouTube clearly tells you it is against the law to use the DMCA system for anything other than copyright. He still went ahead and did it, then continues to lie that he did it, to this very day.
I can back up every claim I make with video evidence. I've listened to him blatantly lie about what he did for well over a year now, and August 24 was the final straw. It's time to stop talking. And it's time to start "learning my lesson".
