This discussion reminds me how there's a gigantic statue of a big-headed nog that looks like this"Able"? No, "allowed".
I've said this in another thread, but I met an artist once who told me how she kept running up against the expectations of "black art" and how shitty it is. People who say certain producers/curators/etc demand a "minstrel show" are talking about valid concerns.
It's almost as if well-meaning curators would rather display something like this:

Because the former paintings are "unambiguously black" and they want asspats. I imagine it's much the same in the music world.

And it was made by a black man named Sanford BIGGERS.
