Darksyde Phil and the Kino Casino (WOOOAAHH BUDDY)

It an amazing conversation, I loved how Phil actually was respectful towards you, and accepted different perspectives. Even though he will never love the Farms, he accepts that it has its usage. It must've been surreal talking to someone who you've watched for over 10 years offering to talk to you, and the conversation was eye opening to see someone on the other end of the spectrum. Already my personal favorite conversation stream after Caroline Farrow.

Why did I quite literally just finish listening to this conversation.
Anyways, I think Phil is somewhat seems to not quite understand that the excessiveness of the detractors will reach the farms, whether or not it is posted here or somewhere else. Instead of the info being posted here first, it'll just slowly, always make its way here and unless the board is gone, there's nothing you can do.

I just got done listening to it this morning, I honestly really enjoyed it. In the late 2010’s I was a big regular of DSP forum and stopped paying much attention, since there’s better lolcows.
Also bonus points for mentioning the unboxing video, that was good. I wish the Detractor game was mentioned but overall it’s good to hear the back and forth. PPP’s fake sympathy voice is a bit tiring.

I was actually impressed with DSP's ability to form coherent thoughts and arguements, move the conversation along and retrace steps. Right up until he discovered Null's infamous Immovable Object mentality RE: Kat's sister's porn bullshit. My hat is off to humanizing people.

Super interesting stream, maybe the best interview/discussion I've seen in the sektur. Impressed with PPP and Andy's conduct during the stream and I thought they gave DSP and Null some uncomfortable questions. I hope they can continue this momentum and hope that Null does some more appearances like this maybe on other channels. I thought Phil was mostly a good sport (though he obviously really wants his board gone) and Null didnt just roll over for him. Good appearances all round.

@Null hate to tag but did you give your thoughts on the stream anywhere, like yesterdays MATI (haven't listened yet)?

I'm not in the DSP sphere and I don't think I've ever heard him talk outside of MATI clips. I had nothing against him coming into this stream.

One of the things that grinded my gears was him asking "Why don't you shut down the Kiwi Farms? It would benefit myself and other online creators for a short while, even if the trolls eventually do come back"

The entire time I was thinking "Why would Null do that then? How does it benefit him? If in the long term nothing would actually change except Josh loses the community he spent a decade building, then why would he destroy his legacy? Are you really asking him to do that so you can have a two-week vacation from your detractors?"

It just rubbed me the wrong way. Is he that infantile that he wants you to destroy years worth of hard work just because it would make him feel better?

How much did Phil charge for that interview? How much was he paid if any?
I think Phil knows that good publicity is priceless, even if he floundered about with banning the pedo he still came across as not a lunatic about it.

His argument has some legs to it that can be summarized to “My trolls try to dox all my supporters and I haven’t vetted the guy, but he behaves well in chat. Am I supposed to vet every fucking chatter or ban everyone my troll complain about?”
He did autistically defend not banning the guy because “then the trolls win”, but he did relent because Jersh did explain it’s a no-win scenario where your enemies are morally correct about your course of action.

DSP did give Josh pushback on the nature of the site that I think is wrong. Centralization of e-drama is why the Farms is maligned, but often smaller actors can do more damage. The Farms is more like a library than a community center, you don’t blame a library for having material.

honestly dont know a ton about DSP's lore but this humanized him alot, he's just a kinda schlubby guy making a living playing video games, can't fault him for that

This was my first prolonged exposure to Phil outside of short clips. The only thing remarkable to me was how entirely unremarkable and average he is. He isn't particularly intelligent or stupid, not well-spoken or ineloquent, not hilarious or unfunny. Voice is completely unremarkable, looks completely unremarkable. Didn't seem like a saint or a monster. He was your run of the mill completely average dude.

I think what drives the hatred for Phil is his complete lack of anything that makes him stand out, yet he has been able to make it as a streamer for so long. With most online personalities there is SOMETHING remarkable that makes them stand out, so even if you hate them you acknowledge they have something you don't that makes them successful. Phil is so average that he doesn't have that, and I think it drives certain people insane with a mixture of envy, confusion, and frothing hatred.

I was really disappointed they didn't play a game. It's funny that even the Turkey Tom interview revolved around building in Minecraft casually while chatting, and Phil, a professional streamer(as in it's literally the only thing he does in life), couldn't even manage that.

It just rubbed me the wrong way. Is he that infantile that he wants you to destroy years worth of hard work just because it would make him feel better?
In as many words or fewer: Yes. He is.

In his defense, I would also prefer things that irritate me not exist, regardless if those things are someone else's magnum opus.

I loved how Phil actually was respectful towards you
Was he? He said Null facilitates targeted harassment, equated the farms to a community center where people commit crimes, and said the farms would "kill" him like Frankenstein's monster.
To Null's credit he didn't let him get to him. DSP is objectively low-IQ to the point that nobody really takes him seriously, but this is an advantage to him that he can get away with more.
For weeks DSP literally accused the farms of committing crimes, but in a conversation with him he hides it behind metaphors and implications. It's another example where most of Phil's piss and venom evaporates the moment he's outside of his bubble, just like with Keemstar (which we'll see a repeat of that later today).
The best DSP could do is say "we're on different planes of morality" which is a very pussified way of calling him immoral.

It just rubbed me the wrong way. Is he that infantile that he wants you to destroy years worth of hard work just because it would make him feel better?
Yes. Maybe not infantile, but narcissistic. The only reason Phil agreed to talk with Josh is because he thought he'd delete his KF section, and that would have been a huge win over his detractors.
How much did Phil charge for that interview? How much was he paid if any?
Phil has been paid by Kino Casino directing their whales to his streams. He's been given a few thousand already.
