PL: wife and I are in an IVF cycle right now after an infertility diagnosis. I about blew my fucking stack when I was told that some of the drugs we had to pay for were covered by insurance but only if they’re being used for gender affirming treatment.

We don’t have a problem paying out of pocket thankfully but it’s like 17-20k for the retrieval and 4-5 for a single transfer and it’s not even a guarantee to get a kid out of a transfer. And the financing that some give out is worse than buying a hellcat as a nigger with a 300 credit score.
IVF clinics are either bastions of hope or genuinely evil organizations from what I've heard.

Oh my god interview is about 18 minutes. Edited. Holy fuck.

Note: The full interview will air at 9 p.m. ET Thursday on CNN’s “The First Interview: Harris & Walz, A CNN Exclusive”

Savannah, Georgia
CNN

Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday offered her most expansive explanation to date on why she’s changed some of her positions on fracking and immigration, telling CNN’s Dana Bash her values haven’t shifted but that her time as vice president provided new perspective on some of the country’s most pressing issues.

In the CNN exclusive sit-down interview, Harris also said she would name a Republican to serve in her Cabinet if elected.

And she brushed off her rival’s questioning of her racial identity, dismissing Donald Trump’s suggestion she “happened to turn Black” as the “same old, tired playbook.”

Pressed by Bash on her reversals on fracking and decriminalizing illegal border crossings, Harris sought to explain why her positions had changed.

In all, the joint interview in Savannah with her running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz – their first since becoming the Democratic presidential ticket – provided one of the clearest looks into Harris’ positions and her plans for the presidency.

“How should voters look at some of the changes that you’ve made?” Bash asked Harris. “Is it because you have more experience now and you’ve learned more about the information? Is it because you were running for president in a Democratic primary? And should they feel comfortable and confident that what you’re saying now is going to be your policy moving forward?”

Harris said despite the shifts in position, her values had not changed.

“I think the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and decisions is my values have not changed,” she said. “You mentioned the Green New Deal. I have always believed – and I have worked on it – that the climate crisis is real, that it is an urgent matter to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time.”

During a September 2019 climate crisis town hall hosted by CNN, Harris was asked if she would commit to implementing a federal ban on fracking on her first day in office.

“There’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking, and starting with what we can do on Day 1 around public lands,” Harris said at the time. By the time she had become Joe Biden’s running mate, she had moved away from that stance and even cast the tie breaking vote to expand fracking leases, as she noted to Bash.

On Thursday, Harris pointed to the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act, which provided record investments in combatting climate change, as an example of her climate record.

“We have set goals for the United States of America and by extension, the globe, around when we should meet certain standards for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, as an example. That value has not changed,” she said.

And she pointed to her record as California attorney general, when she prosecuted gangs accused of cross border trafficking, as an indication of her values on immigration.

“My values have not changed. So that is the reality of it. And four years of being vice president, I’ll tell you, one of the aspects, to your point, is traveling the country extensively,” she said, pointing to her 17 visits to Georgia since becoming vice president. “I believe it is important to build consensus, and it is important to find a common place of understanding of where we can actually solve problems.”

Embracing her vow to act as a president for “all Americans,” Harris said in the interview she would appoint a Republican to her Cabinet if elected, though said she did not have a particular name in mind.

“I’ve got 68 days to go with this election, so I’m not putting the cart before the horse,” she said. “But I would, I think. I think it’s really important. I have spent my career inviting diversity of opinion. I think it’s important to have people at the table when some of the most important decisions are being made that have different views, different experiences. And I think it would be to the benefit of the American public to have a member of my Cabinet who was a Republican.”

And she summarily dismissed Trump’s assertion, made last month at a conference for Black journalists, that she had altered her racial identity over time.

“Same old, tired playbook,” she said. “Next question, please.”

This story is breaking and will be updated with more from the interview at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday

I have to deal with these gays for Palestine idoits every other day at college. Bottom line is, Isreal has tried land-swap agreements several times, the palestinians want it all, so a 2 state solution is never going to work. I have no idea why anyone in the west feels sympathy for them. Should we send money to isreal? I think we should just sell weapons to both sides, let them kill each other and see who wins. Put a 150% tarriff on arms exports so the american taxpayer gets some money back for once.
It's literally just morons who want to feel like it's 1969 again.

"....that it is an urgent matter to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time.”
>deadlines around time
Around time, in case you haven't heard what a deadline is. Also,
>around time
>TIME
You were in office for 3.5 years and the President is sleeping in a beach. I don't think I can trust you with "deadlines" for anything.

Can we not live tweet this shit? It's annoying having to sort through all of the "OMG!" posts every time there's an event. Like someone just reading through in a week should be able to tell what the fuck is going on.
Live commentary is good but I do wish people would be more descriptive. Some posts are good, some are just "omg holy shit this is amazing" with no context like you said

Trump says he wants to make IVF treatments paid for by government or insurance companies if elected

How long til Kamala steals this too because Walz needed a turkey baster to have kids?

Agreed. He could have easily ripped Biden to shreds in that debate, but restraint and reserve was the best approach once it was clear Biden was operating with diminished mental capacity. Trump being overaggressive at that point would not have benefited him in any way.

@mlanguishi is right. How many kiwis worked someplace and not put it on a resume for whatever legitimate reason? That's not a big deal in and of itself.

The issue here is Kamala claiming she worked at Mickey D's if the official response turns out to be either, {Citation Needed}, or "No, she didn't." Making shit up isn't a good look for a candidate and party claiming the opponent lacks any sort of integrity.

I hope our side finds a bit more then some mcds nothingburger.

18 edited minutes, no transcript or full interview released, has to have an emotional support puppy with her.

Yeah this is totally the profile of a leader of the free world. Sure.

Are you telling me that when you want to be President, you have to travel the country a lot and engage in -POLITICS- to find agreements? Wow, I had no idea. I thought Trump just liked hitting the road a lot!

It's really indicative of how little she did when she was vice President. She has no idea how politics work. She has like a teenagers's understanding of what a politician does, it doesn't help that she needs her handler there to help her not fuck up (She did anyway) and provide free tampons if needed. I can't wait until she asks Putin or Xi if his tard wranglers can join the meeting.

No wonder they recycled the insulin story like 30 times in 4 days, she literally hasn't done anything else other than fucking things up.

promising that the government will pay for even more free shit in this economy is dumb but women aren't going to vote for a political party that doesn't promise them gibs in some fashion. if he's going to throw away money it might as well be towards something that puts a dent in the GOP's bad track record on abortion and Android Raptor type takes of "GOP just hates women"
If it's paired with actual progress on improving metabolic health. Via MAHA from RFK Jr whatever.
A lot, if not the majority, of infertility in women is due to issues like PCOS which - not to repeat myself for the millionth time - is due in part to metabolic health issues that are rampant and getting worse every year in this country.

If you implement a standard of care around starting with conservative measures to improve diet quality and address metabolic syndrome and then provide IVF for the situations where that doesn't work (likely a minority) then whatever. But IVF is unfortunately in many cases a bandaid to a larger underlying problem. Not always. But not uncommonly. And of course it's not to say you won't get kids out of it. But it can be rather traumatic as my understanding is it often takes multiple rounds and that means miscarriage. I have family members who want through it and although they did get a kid out of it, the actual experience was heartbreaking to witness. Future moms deserve better.

Also don't wait to have kids until you're 40. Try to have kids when you're young if possible, and healthy at the very least. And know what indicators of health to pay attention to.

Most women want to wait til 30 now. Not understanding that by 30 men don't want your shit and the ones that want it are probably poorer and less successful/good looking than them
Knowing how women choose their partners, they are never having kids if that's the case.
