Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

They have forced texture streaming and now people are getting more packet burst than usual, again another choice MW2019 had right but for some odd reason they didnt carry over was the texture packs. If you had the space and wanted the game to look really good you used it otherwise you dont have to use it.

MW2019 only had downloadable 4k texture packs during it's 1st year. Once BOCW integration happened they ditched them. If you downloaded the HD texture packs now you will notice they are like 1 or 2 MB. BOCW integration into MW2019/WZ1 was when texture streaming started.

Crazy because the Cold War integration downgraded graphics

From my understanding, they had to use the new dev tools so the integration could work, but because they had 1 year to salvage BOCW from SledgeHammer's fuck up they choose to instead upgrade the BO4 (idTech) engine and use that instead of the one used in MW2019 (New IW Engine).

Also wikipedia is wrong about the new engine. Their claim that MW2019/Vanguard/MW2/MW3 all use the same release of the IW engine is complete bullshit. IW is constantly upgrading their engine. To the point where similar to the old idTech engine every year should be a new version.

So everyone is talking about Black Ops, figured I'd play some Cold War for old times sake.

Apparently it just became completely broken on PC sometime in 2022? I get a crash every 10 minutes and the subreddit was just kinda like "you can run it in windowed full screen and as administrator but they probably won't work"

I believe MWIII toned down the weapon grind for camo challenges. I hope there's no more of that grind that Cold War had. If anything, it made weapon progression repetitive.

I don't think I've ever had Cold War crash on me in the last several months I've been playing it (unlike MWIII), so not sure what might be the issue there.

Apparently I have to run battle.net in windows 8 compatibility and as administrator to at least get the campaign to work.

Ended up deleting the multiplayer component before I could test this to work, figured I'll finish the campaign first in case the multiplayer download fucks the whole thing up.

So fucking weird. It worked fine a year and a half ago.

My first match of Cold War, I'm literally streaking with a sniper rifle. Three matches later, I can barely leave out the spawn vicinity. SBMM is hell on Earth.

I'll be in the beta, so I'll keep kiwi posted. It actually drops on one of my days off so I plan on no lifing it for a day.

This sounds familiar. I'd tell my friends you basically have to play it "two for them, two for me"

It was why I ended up spending the first month or two just leveling up all the guns in Zombies.

That makes two of us. I don't see why not since it comes with Game Pass.

Edit: actually, the beta is on the 30th. That's a work day for me. But, I can still play a couple hours a day to try things out. You can pre-install on the 28th on Xbox at least.

Maybe it's because I'm in Europe, but I don't know if there's really enough people playing CW for SBMM to even be an option. I keep getting max level people wiping the floor with me.

Same, on Game Pass. If you use Indian codes for Core with a VPN, a year of Ultimate still comes out cheaper than buying the game full-price (on top of all the other games you get, there's a few I'm looking forward to like Expedition 33). Pretty sure it'll still come out cheaper even after the price increase in September. Unless the balance ends up being so ungodly bad that lobbies are completely joyless, I'm probably gonna try to max out to 55 in the beta.

Look forward to seeing you there, Kiwi nigger.

Your FOMO beta rewards. Betcha money Black Ops 6 will be buggy at launch with little addressed from either beta.

Yeah, the SBMM used to kick really hard in Cold War. It felt like you were not allowed to have fun for more than a couple of matches.

Pretty much what I did during most of Cold War's run. I enjoyed playing Outbreak and I liked that the game had shared progression so everything you do in the Zombies modes also progress the Battle Pass and the weapons grind.

SBMM is virtual gaslighting. If you're doing well, then somebody is affected by the SBMM with you as the guinea pig. When they're doing well, that's the system intentionally putting you at a disadvantage.

What fun is it "reverse boosting" to intentionally sabotage your stats for YouTube/TikTok clips? There's no skill with cheating EOMM.

Not sure if I get the nuclear amount of shit Liberty Falls is getting after the CoD Next preview. It's been pretty blatant for a long time now that Treyarch wants a more effective onboarding process -- get more new players into zombies, get more casual zombie players into the main story, hence the guided mode. This seems like a pretty clear beginner map with wide areas for easy train control, that casuals can really get into and try moving into Terminus from there. Remember that the amount of people, whose first zombies experience was MWZ, is more than likely larger than you might think. At best what I'm guessing happened is that nostalgia merchants saw dataminers go "blah blah Tranzit blah blah Jetgun", and thought they're gonna get to play old Black Ops again (which they can, just boot it up). Shit like "I thought we're getting Black Ops back, not Cold War" is absurd -- it's literally a Cold War sequel, even that map's story is a direct follow-up to the ending of Cold War's zombies. Not sure if "why is it bright" is even worth bringing up. My nigger, the sun exists. Go outside, touch some grass.

I'd rather accept to get fucked by the SBMM for 2 or 3 games in a row than use a VPN or reverse boost to end up in a server of drooling retards like most TTV/ecelebs do.
