To be fair, they do. It's just such a huge website that it's not immediate, even though 'snark' subreddits get away with a lot they're often deleted and not allowed to come back. DSP's on his, what, fifth subreddit? I don't think any cobra subreddit exists anymore after NAL's got banned. They put up with this shit way less now that they're trying to actually turn a profit with reddit.

Social media platforms contract companies like Cognizant to review claims of malicious content, like CP. Problem is, places like Reddit and Facebook are so big and filled with so many morons who falsely report shit for one reason or another. Every claim of CSAM has to be reviewed. Yes, there are databases and hashes that can be cross referenced, but these aren’t always going to hit. Fuck Reddit and all that, but they’re doing what they can.

Process looks like this:
1) Person posts a picture of alleged CSAM
2) another person reports it
3) Reddit backend process begin to hash the file to see if it’s within a known database of malicious material. If so, removed in a short period of time by auto moderation. If not…
4) Get dumped into an overwhelmingly large bucket in which a Cognizant wagie has to manually review. Yes. There are specific jobs for this, and they earn pennies.
5) Could be hours, days, and sometimes even weeks before something is reviewed. I have been told that Reddit has some type of prioritization system in which if something is mass reported by unique sets of individuals, it is sent for priority review.
6) Once reviewed, sent back to Reddit as flagged for deletion
7) The file is removed on the Reddit backend, but not before Reddit self-reports the incident to NCMEC, including the user who uploaded the file, IP addresses, date and time, URL, etc. Hash of file is also noted for auto moderation to remove automatically once detected.
