They have so successfully brainwashed women into believing that any blip in a pregnancy will result in total maternal death instantly, they have a whole couple generations of young women who are clinically tokophobic and antinatalist to the point we are going to die off if things don't correct course soon.

I think it was either @Diana Moon Glampers or @Otterly who at some point dug up a lot of shocking research showing that even ectopic pregnancies rarely kill the mom. But even conservative diehard pro-lifers accept it as simple common sense that no, they actually are fatal and common and need to be accounted for in the law.

But this terror of pregnancy- any pregnancy at all, not just ectopic or rape or whatever- is an enormous cultural issue we will have to overcome first. And then we can work our way back from there, outlawing late term, mid term, changing the culture so early term no longer is something people feel comfortable about either...

A long, difficult march. Not impossible. But it's going to require a lot more thoughtful planning than just throwing money at foundations.

It really says something deeply disturbing about our society that quite literally the only demographic that has a positive view of pregnancy are male fetishists.

Just having RFK work on FDA stuff and nothing else is a better thing to do than having some "conservative" stooges be in place who just move papers around to pad their own resumes. Give RFK FDA or CIA, give Tulsi Veterans Affairs, let Vance work on fixing manufacturing communities, have Musk fix the space situation and maybe get free reign to gut one part of the government to show inefficiency. I think Trump realizes this now, especially after seeing them lie to his face like Ryan and McConnell did for the first year of his presidency. I also think Trump's annoyed with Project 2025 because it makes it too apparent what he wants to do and would take away from him getting the credit, I'm not immune to seeing how his ego works. To have some think tank get more credit than he does for fixing things, he doesn't work like that.

You know, in a way, I'm glad Trump didn't get two consecutive terms. It seems like he has matured a lot as a person. The time out probably helped him reflect on a lot of things he wouldn't have noticed if he was still being tard wrangled by establishment politicians. This makes me more excited to see him come back.

I didn't connect this with politics before but making women absolutely terrified of pregnancy is a growing issue. I see it all the time, young women especially genz is told about pregnancy like it's some boogeyman that's going to 100% destroy your body- if it doesn't kill you. Picrel is from a popular tiktok that gets referenced a lot in which a girl lists the 100 reasons you shouldn't get pregnant, on tiktoks where they share a problem people will comment "add it to the list". I remember seeing this list pre-preg and being terrfied... turns out literally none of it happened. They vastly vastly overstate it and scare the fuck out of women for no reason

That list is batshit insane. I'd never seen it before. Almost every item on it is grossly exaggerated, too. It reads kind of like the propaganda they use to "crack eggs" on Reddit and Discord, but aimed at scared young females instead of lonely young males.

Like teeth and nails falling out- that almost never happens in the modern West, where you can easily access food with all the vitamins you need and if not, you can get prenatal vitamins reimbursed by insurance. Deaths from spinal anesthesia are about a one in a million risk. And then they have those freak occurrence worries next to dumb shit like "lol you might get a stretch mark." Insipid. But also insidious.

And the thing is for pretty much every major concern you can just work with your care team to accomodate that concern. Worried about spinal anasthesia? Plenty of states allow laughing gas which is very very safe for mom and baby. Worried about increased infant and maternal mortality from c-sections? Clarify it as a last resort option only. Don't want to clamp the cord immediately? Work with a team who will respect that. Don't want to give birth in a hospital? Give birth at a birthing center instead. Worried about exhaustion and straining? Don't give birth on your back so you don't have to fight gravity.

Yes some options might take more effort and you do need to screen your care team and hopefully get some people recommended by moms who have worked with them but if it bothers you that much you can just adjust your plan to address the concern and decrease your anxiety about it. It's not perfect and we do a lot of stupid things around pregnancy and childbirth in the US but if you're willing to do the work and research you have a lot of freedom about how you handle it. No pregnancy goes "to plan" but you can at least decrease the risk of your top five or ten worries.

Edit: the woman in a trump shirt getting hit seems fake to me. They're lightly kicking her with one foot, no real punching or beating, and the black dude berating her seems at a loss of what to say "you fucking... trump supporter". If he were really pissed enough to beat someone he'd have plenty to say.
