Has anyone studied this in depth to determine to what extent societal urbanization has had on fertility rates? I realize it's anecdotal, but when I think of the family members or old friends I have who either live in the country or small towns, almost all of them have at least two children with some having as many as six children.

We lived in a small town then a village and my parents had 6 children over 25 years.
