"The Day the Clown Cried" finally may have a release date

I think it was about two years ago we got the news we would be able to see The Day the Clown Cried eight years from now. I knew it had to be because Lewis knew he wouldn't make it... and I was right.

Still, it's a damn shame he's gone. One of these days I'll get around to watching The King of Comedy or Artists and Models...

Well at least he lived on past the MDA's effort to keep that telethon going.

Apparently, the June 2024 showing of the incomplete film print did not take place.

Meanwhile, Kia Jam has bought the rights to the True and Honest original script so he can make his own lame take on it:

They're never gonna let us see this movie or other infamous hitler adjacent comedies like the unaired episodes of "heil honey I'm home". We just get the bootleg "re-imaginings" while the IP holders get to vault everything till it degrades to unwatchabilty. Damn shame.

So after years of being promised the OG "biggest and most hilariously taboo fuckup in movie history" we instead get a currentyear reboot of it by the producer of the infamously (yet hilariously) shit Dungeons and Dragons movie...

So he produced one okay movie (Lord of War)

That's not exactly a good track record.
Track record aside people wanted to SEE the unreleased apparent severe fuckup movie. making a "modern re-imagining"of it after squatting on the IP/selling it's script rights to someone that wants to make a remake of it and just basically robbing people of seeing what was promised for years? yeah it's gonna be a fucking pain either way even if the movie is "good" or "intentionally shit to pay tribute" or whatever.

Wasn't that Chris Robert's production company before he returned to the vidya scam business?
Yes the web page for their company lists him as a founder of the company.
