Should people who don't zip their archived shit into a folder be drawn, quartered and dismembered?

Archived what? I do not understand what you are asking. If you mean entire archives of a lolcows content, for example, then yes. Everything should be sorted in a very autistic way, else it is a nightmare.

I think that's fine as long as the zip file is not like a mess of many things. Besides, there is a feature in 7zip (and most likely whatever you are using to unzip) to extract to a new folder with the same name as the zip file.
