i'm sure this is incredibly late but i just keep marveling at it:
i always figured narcissists were slick. i had no idea they could be such bumbling disasters.
i have seen so much pop psych about it, almost entirely from girls on social media convinced a TAHHHXIC relationship they were in was truly narcissistic abuse or something, and from that i had a certain idea about it. i figured it was very subtle, sophisticated manipulation.
nick's attempts are anything but.
Well quite often they are, just look at Nick. This isn't something he caught like an STD or just woke up with one day.
When we go look back, all the signs were there and some things make more sense with hindsight. He's often also said that he is a narcissist, but he was slick, he had one of the largest youtube channels at one point which I doubt he would have achieved by behaving like he is now, granted some of his current behaivour seems to be heavily influenced with his substance abuse.
The most difficult thing a narcissist can face is them being exposed. I've seen it real life, with family, friends and clients.
I imagine why Nick has gotten to a bumblingly retarded level, is because he had such a large online presence. Now his mask has slipped, there are too many people around him to allow it to go back on. Ralph, Barnes and Juju all either believe it or more realisticly are happy to play pretend with Nick and that's why we're seeing such a bizarre alliance. I can't explain why they're defending him mind.
In psychology, there's something called the drama triangle. This comes into play when we as people get into arguments with people and we often take on a role but can shift between them in the same argument.
The three roles are:
Persecutor: It's all your fault
Rescuer: Let me help you
Victim: Poor me
Quite often a narcissist sits in the Victim area, making out their target to be a persecutor and trying to turn others into rescuers to attack the target they've made out to be a persecutor.
What they will struggle with, is people around them actually seeing that they are a persecutor and not a victim at all.
As we can see with Nick, he's trying desperately to be a victim and he's turning people like Null, Potentially Criminal and Null into persecutors, simply because they've highlighted shitty and retarded behaivour and Ralph, Barnes and Juju are the rescuers.
I will say the drama triangle, though simplistic, is a really good tool to help understand your own personal relationships and why you keep having arguments with people and how you can change going forward. I do recommend anyone take a few minutes to reflect on it.
Thank you for coming to my presentation. This is a simplistic and very quick overview. I do recommend you read futher if you're interested.
Though I can't and haven't given Nick a diagnosis, this is one element I've observed that leads me to believe him to be one.
