Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom is a collect-a-thon platformer. Spongebob: Truth or Square is Battle for Bikini Bottom minus the collect-a-thon requirements or the open hub world. I have better memories with Truth or Square than Battle for Bikini Bottom. The linearity and streamlined approach was a great design choice.

It doesn't compel you, it rewards you. The game doesn't make mobs unkillable unless you play a certain way. The enemies will still die, just not as fast.
Oh, so it compels you to use different weapons by making the enemies die quicker to certain weapon configurations.
"I had more fun when I didn't have to think about things and could mindlessly bruteforce my way through the game!"
Yes. After a hard days work I like to relax, play video games and have fun.
If you're going to use infinite ammo, you might as well use infinite HP cheats because why should you be forced to die instead of choosing when to die?
"How dare you play the game in the way you want to and have fun doing so rather than the tedium that the developer forces down your throat". Never had an issue with health running out as flamethrower and SS's hook brings armour and glory kills refill health, however you need ammo and to deal enough damage to proc these.
And I did the whole weapon swapping because I find that FUN.
What's your ADD stack? 2016 weapon swapping was fun cause you it was the skill that allowed you to show that you mastered the game whereas Eternal demands you use it for basic encounters, kinda like the yellow paint the developer is taking away your agency of finding out what does and does not work by outright telling you what and how to do. You can ignore it but you'll see and be constantly reminded of it throughout the game as it's designed that way.

For as much crap as Heavy Rain gets, it really did some scenes very well. One of the most viscerally intense scenes I've ever seen in any game was that one where Ethan has to cut off a finger.

The button prompts shaking like they did, and placed within the world next to where Ethan was focusing were a terrific way of reflecting his dread about the situation. I've never actually seen anyone praise the game for that.
Heavy Rain sets up its tension very well the problem is the mystery falls apart when the game outright lies to you and since the most important part of mystery is solving it, if your pieces aren't aligned the whole thing sucks.

Aw fuck, why'd he pick the saw?? That's the worst one.

And yet, every single person who bitches about Eternal mentions how they can't spend the entire game running around with the Super Shotgun.
I really don't have to do into the rest of your post considering that line alone is the perfect spotlight.

As if 2016 set the expectation of how powerful the weapons were going to be and Eternal has vastly inferior versions of them.
Yes, 2016 had basically no semblance of balance and Eternal actually attempted to address that.

Seriously, this is about as retarded as saying a management builder is bad because you don't have infinite money.

Who asked for it to be balanced? Not one person complained about muh balance at fucking all because a balanced game is a boring one, 2016 isn't boring and Eternal is as the result. The game has been "balanced" to tedium rather than being fun, the whole reason we all play video games in the first place. I can respect Eternal going onto the "balanced" tedium road, improving on its graphical quality and a greater enemy diversity than 2016 but at the end a lot of people wanted Eternal to be that but with 2016's guns. Good on you for having fun with it though, I just prefer 2016 over it.

All I'm going to say is if it was so fucking tedious and boring, Eternal wouldn't have twice as many players on Steam as 2016.
The market has spoken.

Just turn it down to Journalist Baby Mode you fucking faggot.

Insect Glaive is one of the most fun weapons in Monster Hunter but I fucking hate the insect half of it. The weapon is perfectly fine without using the retarded beetle straped to your arm, so it serves no other purpose than ruining your fashion. The shit the kinsect(s) can do is negligible at best, and completely pointless at worst. Everything the kinsect does, you can get from armor skills and decorations.

Just use duel blades then Kinsect is boosting damage or other benefits such as activating rockslides. Improper use of kinsect only harms the player as it is a key component of the weapon.

I don't remember playing Doom II with only the SSG and distinctly remember different weapons being better in different scenarios.

Did it constantly remind you of that or were you give the agency to figure it out yourself?
