At the risk of going off topic, high school, for a lot of people, is the last time the future looks bright. There was a future to look forward to, beyond the halcyon days when you didn’t have to worry about providing for yourself, or taxes, what your society would look like should you have children, or even if you can have them. Many people are stuck. They’re trapped in factory, middleman, salaryman jobs, so the only thing they really have to look forward to is the past. Basically a lot of them peak in high school because that’s the last time they’re given room to grow.

Finally finished Wani, some thoughts:
- From Snootgame on a technical level, it's alot smoother. Something simple like texting for example in Snoot has Fang type out in the text box, while here you have "liv-long is typing" while waiting for a new message to appear on the phone on screen. They really went all out to make sure the sprites move around and add motion to scenes.
- The artstyle is the smooth sprites with blurred stoke photos like before. But there's occasionally guest artwork like Inco's dream:
You can tell Cavemanon let his artists go wild with the different styles and it really shows.
- Those animations. The only time VNs have animations is for some OP anime in the intro or maybe during a lewd scene for simple movement. Having Iakadan cut Olivia's painting, running from Mia, even that dance in E4. It's all beautiful. The anons who worked on it should be proud of themselves.
- The music and ambience is pretty good too. Olivia having her tail go whack on the ground when doodling in Prockling's class, the sound of the typhoon outside when the storms hits. Songs like Final First Page which is the main intro before changing after the epilogue are a joy to listen to. There's 83 tracks on the two sided OST that you can get, they put alot of effort into it.
- The actual story... There's a 6 - 10 anons listed as having helped contribute and it kind of shows. I do like the individual endings. The fire performance in E-3 was a treat and the entirety of E-4 is just one long therapy session over how Inko acts in E-1 before the stairs. My biggest problem I think is Iakadan and his death. With a character like him, you can approach in 3 ways. Player and characters don't know he's going to die, the Player does but characters don't and the both Player and characters know. They went to the first route so it comes as a shock to everyone but feels kinda forced with the melodrama. I think they could have had him do the classic blood cough into a handkerchief or Inco finding pill bottles for some unknown illness. In other words going the second route in you knowing he was terminal but Inco and his optimism would have to try and help Olivia somehow.
Going back over the previous posts, it does explain why Ben feels underdeveloped and Mia kinda wasted as a bully character.

So story has good moments even if overall it's a little messy, the music is good, and the art and animation gorgeous. It really was worth a read through. Will look forward to what Cavemanon does next.

In terms of coding, Wani. In terms of story I think Snoot. the bad ending in that is a school shooting. Devs these days don't have the balls to get that dark. It's unfiltered 4chan in terms of it's humor and it's wonderful. Wani has the better teachers in Iakadan and Sully though.

I like how this implies the idea of Olivia going on a shooting. Though that being said, I wonder how Wani's ending 1 could have been if they had her commit suicide?

In all honesty I think the current bad endings work better than just a straight up "Oh she killed herself" type ending, could work with enough effort, but I doubt it would be as impactful as ending 1 from either game.

I rewatched a full playthrough of the game and Im trying to pretend Snoot Game isnt a thing and that Im a beta who doesnt care about globohomo shit...and I came to the conclusion.
This game is just garbage even if we remove the woke aspects, its worse if we DO add them. I know that VNs about High school live in their own little world but even the good ones at least try to keep some level of ties to reality so your suspension of disbelief isnt challenged THAT badly.
I cant state how much I hate games that have the character actually refuse your dialogue choices. I get the idea is to add some level of independence to your character, fine, but can it NOT come at the cost of, you know, options? Because when you get down to it, its the game literally saying "no" to a choice THEY put in so, I ask, WHAT WAS the point of adding that option if I cant take it and I get a finger wagging for trying to take it? Hate that shit. I also am not a fan of dialogue choices that are more akin to a train of thought rather than the dialogue itself because it could lead to situations you think the character is going to say something but says something completely different.
Dialogue options existed way before this game and it is trying to reinvent the wheel and, shockingly, they failed at it.
The characters just dont feel organic even for the standards of VNs. Its like a glimpse into the imaginary world leftists think that life will be like when their utopia is reached, with all the silly ass colorful clothes that wouldnt be out of place on a lolcow and the concerning abscess of any straight character. The cast is big but there is no need for half of them, leading me to know them more for their gimmick and weird design rather than character. And whenever these characters do try to be more, it usually falls down in the pitfalls of leftist writing with their struggles always needing to reflect those only the writer knows, demonstrating a lack of challenge in the storytelling. You would never see one of these have a dude that wants to be a dude but his parents really want him to be trans but he doesnt want to disappoint them. It feels artificial and manipulative. And the fact that this LGBTQ dominated society is about to be destroyed by the universe/God really makes you see that they maybe didnt think a bit about the ramifications of what they are unintentionally implying.
Also maybe its just me but its weird how this game has things like "sacrifices" and "card reading" and yet its almost like they are doing everything they can to not mention any sort of religion. Its just something that leftists do, they look down on religion and yet have these totally "superior" beliefs around vague "energies" and "crystals" or things like that. But then again, if they did bring up religion they would have to confront the fact that there is no way a muslim family, which Fatima's family is implied to be, would ever tolerate any LGBTQ shit and for that matter, neither would Rosa's who is implied to be hispanic and thus catholic (lets not dwell on the fact that she was turned into a tranny and many believe it was done out of spite towards a certain game).
Besides, this is the most SFW apocalypse I have ever seen. I can understand there not being panic when the asteroid is discovered since the danger wasnt solidified but once it began obvious it would collide, the streets just become empty and the closest thing to anarchy we get is the school being a bit vandalized but thats as most as it gets. The streets of the town are desert but the streets are disturbingly clean and maintained. This is never explained as Im very sure most blue colar workers wouldnt bother sticking around and would run off with their families and I much doubt that there wouldnt be people going apeshit with the prospect of their world coming to an end. I wonder if this wasnt done to avoid a higher rating as it would force to show violence and uncomfortable imagery or if the writers/artists arent good at writing conflict beyond that of Tumblr. Then again, it would require more from the animation departament.
Which brings me to the animation...its not good. There are a lot of short cuts and repeated animation that starts to get to your nerves after a while. I watched this game at 1,75 video speed and even then the animation shortcuts were obvious. There are moments I legit expect Gumball and Darwin walk in since there are moments the characters seem oddly out of place with the backgrounds. It gets worse when you see the budget and how it was the Canadian tax payer mostly footing the bill. Snoot Game wa simplistic but it made sense given that they were making this game practically for free and even then the characters are more expressive and lively than Volcano High's. And may I remind you, this game was delayed a couple of times even so its shocking the animation was able to be this unjustifiably basic.
I would talk about the story but I think we can all just agree that is vastly inferior to S.G or IWHTG. Im not necessarily against the concept of a world ending event happening and all you can do is know the characters and helping them make peace with it through solving their problems. Too bad the characters dont feel like actual characters but leftist stereotypes who represent something instead of being a character.
Ultimately, what impact this game left by the end of it? The asteroid doesnt appear at any point so we dont know how much our characters have left. The game just kind of stops, not even bothering at least show the impact and how our characters do not fear it. It all feels like it was building up towards something like that but its hollow...as if the writers didnt have the guts on having a heartwrenching scene where all our characters just brace themselves for death as its coming right at them. Its a pussy move in my opinion.
So, truly, in the end, we leave with nothing. And I think thats the biggest lesson of it all, nothing....that and you should play Snoot Game instead.
This game wont be remembered fondly and it will truly always live in Snoot Game's shadow as the characters belong more to Caveanon at this point than KO_OP .
My closing thoughts are that this truly feels like the spiritual successor to A Night in the Woods but worse in every way. Give Night in the woods some credit, it had some redeeming qualities like its stylized animation and music. And hell, even the characters are better written...thats not saying much but still.

There's something so funny about a guy called "Mr Media Literacy" not understanding that you can enjoy a game and not care about who made it, or see why someone would enjoy this game besides being nazi chuds.
There seems to be a recent surge in shitting on Snoot for some reason? Is it because the anniversary made them seethe? Is it cuz KO_OP finally said Snoot is fine? I have no clue but it's been funny seeing people spread blatant misinformation about the game.

The entire team was surprised to find this Post, we were honestly worried that we were going very unnoticed, it would be a shame to launch the game and there would be absolutely no one waiting for it so discovering your post a week ago and seeing so many people talking about our small project was incredible and motivated us to take a more active attitude, thank you!

Soooo...ya gonna present proof of this? Like, didnt really see anything like this happen, hell theres even fan art of Stella and Rosa being lovers, an seems that ship is very supported. Plus, from what I saw Snoot fans never mock GVH fans, infact seen lots of GVH fan art posted on snootbooru and people really like it.
Also, the whole "trans thing" bugs me, so they talk about how "oh, they label all trans as groomers", okay lets say not every trans person is that BUT there are individuals who do shit for personal or fucked up reason, an it doesnt matter if they are trans or not. Its fucked up and wrong and should be called out, bad things happen and just because a person who did it is trans/gay/straight or whatever the fuck, it NEEDS to be called out if we want a fair society for all. Plus, last I checked Trish wasnt trans, nor is Fang (really it always bugged me how none binary = trans, it feels as wrong as claiming that crossdressers are trans...oh wait...)
