Concord - robots with pronouns

They'll definitely re-release it, but as a F2P title with a battle pass and other in-game purchases IMO.

I never played it, but I watched a couple of reviews and it looked alright game-play wise, so it has potential. It got stuck in a chicken/egg situation, where they needed to sell more copies to increase the terrible player base numbers, but the terrible player base numbers meant that people weren't gonna buy it. Making it F2P at least gets rid of the biggest barrier to getting people to download and play the game, and Sony are doing well with PS5 sales so there's loads of potential players out there.

If they respond to some of the other negative feedback, maybe the game could see some success, but the market is pretty saturated. People who like games like this are already playing one or more of its competitors. I don't see the woke shit being a huge factor tbh.
True, they'll try to copy Overwatch 2 and their F2P approach. They'll keep the "woke" (hate using that word but there isn't a better one) shit or tone it down just a lil' so they can say to the anti-woke crowd "we got rid of it" while saying to the woke crowd "we kept it *wink* *wink*".

You know, that type of behavior has happened so often with upcoming releases in the past five years, I think corporate America thinks that it is a genuine marketing strategy.

It generates attention and controversy, so it's going to be on the minds of the consumer who will want to look at it to make up their own mind. It's part of the "any attention is good attention" mindset.
It is and it's called fan-baiting. Basically, you make your product divisive in the right, safe way and you'll get an online klatch of miserable lefty dicksucks to defend your product like they're the saviors of civilization.

You started to really see it with The Last Jedi. If you recall, that movie became a political touchstone and if you liked all of that good, progressive shit then you felt compelled to stan the Disney Wars movies... for a time. But every time someone engages in it, they alienate more and more of their potential audience until, suddenly, the flops start coming and then don't stop.

is Fairgame$ Sony's next live service game?

Concord's devs will probably just get moved to this

it looks just as uninspiring as Concord

rate me optimistic, but I think it'll do slightly better than Concord because Fairgame$ seems to be about heists, and niggers love their PS5 and robbing banks

hell, the trailer even has mumble rap music playing!

Concord isn't coming back as f2p, it's fucking dead-dead. Their announcement makes it sound like it will come back in some form, but what exactly?
They are just saving face. This game isn't like Cyberpunk or NMS where there is a gem buried deep down that just needs a lot of polish or retooling to realize. I think they are permanently pulling the plug and going to try to write off as much as they can like they do for movies and TV shows that flop.
Sony should have just fucking stopped after the open free beta.
It's weird how out of all the big publishers, fucking Sega is the voice of reason when they looked at Hyenas and said "We need to abort this abomination post haste."

Several people in the thread have already mentioned fairgames aka Concord 2: flop harder. The name is awful because it's not even immediately clear it's a video game (or a noun..) and wanting to see how that bodes for their advertising I checked out their twitter https://nitter.privacydev.net/play_fairgames/with_replies. They currently last tweeted on may 30th and have 1600 followers. Their last tweet has 28 replies including one saying "Today Concord, u next".

It is developed by "Haven Studios" from Montreal canada (strike 1), it is their first game (strike 2) and features a similarly "diverse" cast (strike 3) as concord. I think the only question is do they have the good sense to shit can this before release or not. I can't wait.

There's a guy on ResetEra that loves this game and is having a bit of a breakdown over it's demise.

"One of the best games ever made."

"I think this game is a 10/10 immaculate game. Sorry if it offends you!"

"It's just a culture of dullards. The legion of dumb."

"Basically, this game is driving the schism between "are video games art? Or are they playthings?". Clearly, the latter is the broad reception."

Eat the rich, black lady front and center, yep it's basically the same shit, I wonder how far along they are and how much they'll lose on this one.

I don't see anything wrong with diverse designs, women that aren't perfect little Barbies or ordinary-looking people in video games. The main problem with the characters in Concord though is that the characters feel very token and unappealing when it comes to the costumes and hairstyles. Sony wanted to tick every box in their DEI list and focused more on that rather than the gameplay and appealing character designs.

I'm not complaining that characters aren't super models, I'm complaining that they're ugly. If you are going to market a product though, it's best to have characters that are appealing to look at since sex sells. It doesn't even mean revealing outfits, chiseled abs and big bazongas, it can simply be a cool outfit on a normal or nondescript character. I think the Master Chief is an absolute badass and he looks cool despite existing entirely within a suit, when I see someone in that set of armor mowing down a bunch of ugly but threatening aliens, it draws my attention.

It seems they'd have to go out of their way to make a lot of these designs.

Based on appearance alone, which of these characters would you want to play as?
- 3rd on the bottom row is normal looking white/hispanic guy with headphones.
- African-American Trench coat guy if you could get a skin where he doesn't have a bright teal coat.
- Attractive oriental weeb bait holding a hub cap again with a skin to swap from grass seed green to something else.
- Maybe the humanish alien and the samurai hornet guy with raptor feet at the bottom right

Obviously everyone has their own biases, and maybe there are a few others would prefer to play as, but as a non-shut in with a group of friends, I can guarantee based on looks alone that every guy I know if they were forced to play this would pick one of those 5 characters.

So let's not pretend this is about not accepting different body types, or tokenism or blatancy, it's about intentionally creating ugly characters that don't appeal to audiences. The fact that with a few tweaks a third of these characters look good shows they're capable of it.

In a different era, the newgrounds people would be all over this and making mushroom man and black tranny complete lore overhauls while they drink and play mario together in trash can robot's garage, and we might've gotten a renaissance of content in the same way Pepe evolved out of Boy's Club strips. Sad

Based on appearance alone, which of these characters would you want to play as?
Based on appearance alone, six of those characters don't look like they can run, let alone run AND gun. Two of them don't look like they can even gun stationary. Jump? Forget it.

I'm genuinely considering going to Gamestop and seeing if I can get a bunch of hardcopies for dirt cheap, to sell in a couple years as collector's items.
Go for it, if only for the bragging rights that you own a copy of the most expensive flop in video game history. I have an ET Atari cartridge just for its infamy.

I was just looking into this but I couldn't figure out if it was going to be free to play or not. I assume if it is it'll do better simply because of that but I'd be shocked if it saw a 5 figure peak regardless. No solid release date either.

while Concord has a record of being just alive for 2 weeks, there is still no one that can compete for the record of shutdown any% with Love Live! School Schol Idol Festival 2, where it got announced for release and at the same time, announced its shutdown....

beat that Fairgames! kek
