Politics - Trump is a riot. He’s literally another level and the 2016 primaries showed this. Started rooting for the underdog and fell in love with the memes, the fun and the wild ride that is the Trump train. It’s a moment in history I want to fully experience because it’ll be over too soon. Not sure I’ll feel the same enthusiasm or interest when things return to ‘normal’.
He's a clown (complimentary,) who made a fool out of the people in power. The shift from "he won't win, we shouldn't take him seriously," to "HITLER HITLER HITLER HITLER" when he won was absolutely fucking incredible.

you're really telling me dressing like LMFAO is still just as trendy as it was back in 2009?

Other than technologically and politically, things haven't changed in well over 20 years. I've posted the 2004 video before but this time I'll post it with comparisons from the same channel. So first off here are what the channel says were the "top songs" of 2023 (they don't have a 2024 video yet):

Now here are that channel's "top songs" of 2004, 20 years ago:

Finally, here are that channel's top songs of 1984, another 20 years before the previous one and 40 years ago from now:

Do you notice the stark difference between comparing the 2023 and 2004 videos and comparing both of those to the 1984 videos? Do I need to find the top songs of 1964 and 1944 to make the point even more? 1944 is 40 years away from 1984 like 1984 is 40 years away from 2024, but children and young adults today are still listenng to and loving music from 1984 (and the 80s in general) yet in 1984 there wasn't a lot from 1944 that children and young adults wanted to listen to. And even songs they might want to, like Swinging On A Star, they probably listened to a newer version of.

The fact is, other than technologically, society peaked in the 80s.

This might sound silly, but how did you guys and girls learn about politics, and when did you become conservative?
I was a history geek in middle/high school, kept getting into arguments with my peers during discussions that ended with either them frustrated or, unironically, calling me a fox news propagandist. I was pretty generically soft liberal kid, so I started getting really confused because I never watched the news and mainly just *read a fucking lot*. Quickly realized that these other generic liberal kids (who were supposed to be smart in goddamn AP classes) really didn't like when I cited shit and started talking with adults about this phenomenon and my frustrations that I could end up being right, have the teacher tell people off, and still be treated like shit anyways. Ended up talking with my parents about issues and they just wanted me to be able to rationalize my arguments without defining what I could believe. Pretty much came to a solid 80% overlap with my parents since they saw the same shit through their lives and careers despite not being super into politics, though they were pretty much always willing to humor me when I got into uncomfortable political/social matters.

Turns out, critical thinking go brrrrrr. I ended up getting super pissed at Bush and Obama for blatantly not following the goddamn rules (constitutional or otherwise) through the war on terror and the shit they pushed domestically, and this lead to my swift descent into being small government conservative, or what others would rationalize as a autistic-not-retarded libertarian. Gamgergate is technically in there somewhere, but that's more on the periphery while I already had my baseline political stances down, total journo death.

Unironically, kids being taught early that it's okay to question anyone as long as you're willing to rationalize and defend your views appropriately is incredibly important. As everyone will undoubtedly say, the inability for a lot of people to rationalize their leftist views is indicative of the fact that neither they nor their parents nor their education pushed for them to be curious about being wrong. Meanwhile, anyone with a non-leftist (not even conservative) viewpoint is pushed so hard you automatically have to git gud or else end up being bullied into submission.

Maybe someone on his team convinced him that is a good way to reach potential younger voters for this election.

He's also pitching a good message this time around (jobs, affordable housing, national pride) that appeals to young men (and probably some women). It probably sounded a little hollow in 2016, but after covid and the Biden administration I think it's really a positive message.

Not silly at all, seeing the others talk about it makes me feel very old though.

I watched the Clarence Thomas hearings, felt like Joe Biden tried to take him out over some trumped up bullshit about sexual harassment. I got the vibe biden hated him because he was black, heh. I was a bit into perot in high school, I liked the little short texan that seemed like he had some decent ideas, didn't have any sort of passion about it, voted for him, he lost, and I was very apathetic to the entire thing. I voted in the next few elections, didn't pay a ton of attention to clinton, but voted for him, Served in the army for a bit there, completely ignored politics, used to be a huge no no to comment much on things in uniform so I just mostly didn't' follow. Then i started playing some attention to the GWOT, sadly I believed the "fight them over there instead of over here." Total neocon bullshit, didn't find that out for awhile though.

Obama's 2008 and 2012 just shut me out of politics, was pretty fucked up over this fraud got elected, and I seen what he was doing, what he was pushing, so I went the other way, voted McCain and Romney, didn't like their politics. I suppose 04 voting bush was where I decided I was a conservative, wanted to go back to that but just two terrible runs, so i wasn't certain at all. Gamergate was gamergate, didn't care much because fuck vidya.

Then in 2015/6 I started listening to Trump and really liked what he was saying. Started diving into politics head first, went from lukewarm right leaning to damn near full /pol/ joo hater. Snapped out of that fairly quickly! I guess the early 90s with the confirmation of Thomas and the guy I really liked getting his shit kicked in, ross perot, was when I started, but only surface level. Took me awhile to find folks like Thomas Massie, Dave Smith, Tucker, Rogan and a few others of that ilk. Folks like Pat buchanan, darryl cooper, BAP, and such have changed me to the point I honestly don't know what the fuck I am now, but conservative isn't what I am.

Trump isn't really a conservative, he's more in line with an old school NYC liberal, sort of. It's hard to put him in a box, and I say this without a hint of irony, he's is possibly the best politician of the past 50 years, and if he does what he says he's gonna do he's going ot go down as the best POTUS since andrew jackson. I went to a couple rallies, and I've never seen anything like the way he commands a group of a couple thousand, hell tens of thousands at some of those rallies.

That's my faggy little journey of politics.

What I'm hearing is the alt-right needs to start funding vanilla porn involving a same race couple being monogamous and raising a family afterwards and start "accidentally" getting copies out there where Gen Beta can find it.
Now that you mention it... yes. Definitely. Though sex is such a touchy subject, so going "hey champ, here's some wholesome sexual intercourse for you! don't get too hot and bothered!" would make any teenager want to dig a hole and stay hidden there forever. But even if you have the wholesome porn, you still have the fun problem of "hey, look, Jimmy has a funny video about girls and dogs!" and everything instantly goes to shit.

The first few "sexual experiences" for anyone have a gigantic effect on what their kinks are going to be like.
"plays videos of The Boys sex scenes" Yep this is much better than whatever porn a child might see.

this is literally an episode plot in Raising Hope, the parents sex tape is so loving that it improves marriages

Other than technologically and politically
didn't realize that dressing like LMFAO was both a political and technological change.

There's an active, coordinated effort to stop people from being able to rationalize and question things at all, so is it really their fault?

I'm not excusing shitty and retarded behavior, this is a genuine question that I'm curious about.

From consumerism to extremely calculated and incestuous networks of infotainment (shoutouts to the kiwi who introduced me to this term,) it's just very difficult to imagine these sorts ever had the chance to start questioning things at all.

That your brain is already a lost cause due to all of the exposure to constant porn doesn't mean that it doesn't have an influence, just means you don't notice it anymore. Cause of all the coom in there.

To be honest I don't actually believe in half of the stuff I post here. I just grew moderately interested a couple of years back. Nowadays I follow a rule of "don't get too invested in this stuff." I actually cringe at some of the posts I've made on Deep Thoughts not too long ago, not because I disagree with them, but I was getting too involved in this stuff. It's best to treat politics like a never-ending late night game show.

If you want my true and honest answer? Yes.

It honestly doesn't take much for people to realize shit is bad, this can be seen across history, and even recently. For example, in regards to 2008 and later. While the blatant social upheaval went away, the broader political zeitgeist of 'fuck the banks, fuck the government' has left a long lasting perception within the normal sphere. People who had no interest in politics notice when the housing crashes and the government plays fuck-fuck games to cover the banks. Hell, you can see the same general idea with big pharma being something that everybody has heard of at least once and that subtly pushes people to be iffy about trusting big corpos, as seen during covid. It's *there*, people have the ability to think critically about issues and push back.

However, I will concede that the mass manipulation and the emphasis on allowing people to self-select being retarded is a detriment to people being able to more easily think. However, even an idiot can notice things, even a retard can question things. Children inherently critically think, it's part our genetic destiny. The ability is right there, one that's constantly, constantly working inside all of our noggins because we're designed for this in order to ensure survival. TV and McDonalds doesn't change 300~500k years of modern human evolution.
This is why the left experiences so much cognitive dissonance and gets upset so easily (outside of simply being childish), there is a distinct portion of their ancestors trying to figure out if there's a snake or a twig in their cave and is saying "it can either be a snake or a twig, not both", and they try to say it's both: you can be a male and a female, a liberal and a tyrant, tolerant and intolerant, nonracist and racist. All of this making that portion of ancient design, the greatest weapon devised in Earth's evolutionary armsrace, to tell you you're being retarded.
