Both parents need full-time jobs (or multiple part-time jobs) to pay for their kids. They honestly don't have the time or energy.

This probably speaks more to my extended social circle, although it includes people I've spoken to indirectly through work, but most families I've seen handle it the same as when I was growing up.

For cooking:
As soon as the kid is old enough to stand, have some fine motor skills, and ask for food they're given a beginner recipe. Usually this is something like a sandwich, although back in the day kool aid counted since it had directions to follow. The kid is tasked with following directions until they can do so easily. May be directed by parent, grandparent, or older sibling.

As the kid grows older the recipes they're tasked with increase in complexity and caution needed. Oatmeal, scrambled eggs, kraft macaroni and cheese, hardboiling eggs, etc so they can make lunch themselves. In the beginning use of knives and stoves is supervised, thus sometimes only allowed on weekends or when a parent or sibling is free.

When they're about 12-14 (depends on the kid) they're tasked with making dinner once a week for the rest of the family. Means mom/dad doesnt have to cook that day. Kid gets to practice. May go up to twice a week depending on how many kids there are and how old they are. First meals made are supervised.

Your kid has now learned how to cook at least basic things.

Cleaning: Everyone had to keep their rooms clean and do dishes once or twice a week. General chores assigned.

Budgeting: Allowance. Anything extra the kid wants like candy or toys they pay for by themselves. Single mom I know gives a small allowance and then takes the kid to dollar tree to pick something occasionally. Sometimes parents opt to only give allowance in return for chores completed.

Sewing: I don't see people teaching this anymore. Probably not really needed since clothes are so cheap and cheap clothes aren't worth repairing.

These are all strategies from two parent households where both parents work, or single parent households. They essentially teach by putting some of the household responsibility on the kid so the parents have less to do.

If anything the parents I spoke to do this because they don't have the time or energy to cook every day themselves, nor clean the entire house by themselves including the kids bedrooms. Many do think it's valuable but also "chores" means "shit I don't have to do".

It is all largely stuff that someone has to do anyway, so having the kid help initially then telling them "you know how to do it" when they're older means you can relax without your kid starving.

I guess a lot of people just hand them a bag of doritos or mcdonalds and call it good enough though. I don't know. The above is seen as the norm where I grew up and where I am now. It can't be the norm everywhere though or we wouldn't be near as bad off as we are but it does seem fairly easy to implement and useful long term.

Iraq war - Tony Blair sells us down the river and also potentially sells our soverignty to the EU via the Lisbon Treaty without consulting the people. That and a raft of scandals and stupid educational policies that fucked up education make Labour a no-go for me pretty much ever. Much to the chargin of my parents who will vote Labor 9 times out of 10


First time voting ever I decided Labour sucks but I also don't really care for the Conservatives - so I'll vote Lib Dem. They promised to get rid of student loans and present a voting referendum so we could change our voting system (yes I learned my lesson)

Lib Dems manage to get *just* enough for it to end up as a hung parliment. Pretty excited about that and Nick Clegg gets to be Deputy PM. We think that means something but ultimately in the end about the only Lib Dem big promise that gets through is the voting system referendum, which was for AV which most reformers didn't even want and it's barely explained what AV even is anyway. Natually we end up stuck with First Past the Post going forward. People getting mad about the DUP supporting the coalition was entertaining at least but that was about it.


Now there's this Obama guy across the pond and he's talking change and hope and stuff. A more conservative friend notes that he isn't really saying much beyond that but I refute that despite lack of policy, he comes across as someone fit for the Job. He wins, but makes it clear early on that he's not gonna be BFF's with England. Kind of a bummer but OK he's got a country to run. Then he hikes up the cost of visitor visa's to the US. He seems to take forever getting policy through and I'm reading editorials blaming it on congress and all that business. He just seems to be not that great at getting stuff done.

Gamergate didn't help matters with witnessing the progressive left starting to muscle in, and the real breaker for me was Obama coming over to the UK at David Camerons behest to tell us not to vote for Brexit. Obama had mostly ignored us for most of his 2 terms, then just swanned over to tell us we'd be sat on the naughty step if we don't vote the way the elite democrat Americans want? Fuck that and the horse you rode in on.


2016 and people are saying this Trump guy is dangerous, he had funny tweets but he's hitler now? Watch some Rallies, kinda like what he's saying, there's policy, there's at least some semblance of a plan to his ideas. I guess I'm just right wing now?

Gamergate. No mainstream forum allowed talk of the collusion issues, not even fucking 4chan. So I was forced to go to 8chan and got redpilled there. I wasn't a democrat or a leftie before, but I kinda leaned more that way than right. I was kind of a libtard.

Also the Joe Rogan podcast. He would have some based guests sometimes. After I had already started taking the red pill, and my interest in learning more kept growing, I would go and research about those guests and listen/read more from them, outside of the podcast.

In only a few months I was already considering myself firmly on the right. Being called all sorts of racist and misogynist and nazi and shit helped a lot to expedite that process, especially when all I was trying to achieve was the bare minimum of ethics in gaming journalism. Also seeing them completely ignore #NotYourShield was fucked up and made me real mad. I remember a prominent girl from NYS who committed suicide. Sad shit. Even today some retards will talk shit about GG without mentioning NYS.

I used to watch a lot of Comedy Central as a wee clownlet, and MadTV, South Park, Stand Up Comedians (from pretty much every political spectrum,) and the 1+2 of the Daily Show and Colbert report were Frequent watches.

I didn't really take the 1+2 as a way I should be thinking, but it was a lot more engaging than some animated slop as I did other things. Maybe it influenced how I behaved in that period of time a little bit? But overall I just registered it as: "Funny men tell me the news."

I found the Atheist sphere of YouTube interesting, but I was never an outright asshole about it to religious people. It did help me start asking a lot of questions and recognize patterns of indoctrination though, and said religious people couldn't give me answers to my questions when I asked.

Anyway, that's where I got my first taste of the wonderful barbaric world of

Islam.

I wouldn't consider myself conservative, but I'm conservative compared to, well, you know.

I'll spare you all the severe power leveling, but my first GIGA redpill was having a very long term friend who I held in high regard both troon out and excommunicate me for shit that I have to admit in hindsight, was pretty autistic of me to do. Not as in stupid, but as in, 'not picking up when to stop.' The Daily Show and something I didn't agree with Jon Stewart doing was the catalyst there.

My hate for tumblr and slowburn hate for the worst of trannies and how they operate definitely stems from that incident. I started recognizing the patterns of indoctrination I picked up from being critical about theology.

Politics - Trump is a riot. He’s literally another level and the 2016 primaries showed this. Started rooting for the underdog and fell in love with the memes, the fun and the wild ride that is the Trump train. It’s a moment in history I want to fully experience because it’ll be over too soon. Not sure I’ll feel the same enthusiasm or interest when things return to ‘normal’.
