The bigger the budget, the harder the flop. And is it just me or are we seeing more and more multimillion dollar AAA titles crash and burn? I don't remember it being this bad 10 years ago.
I remember the 7th gen being pretty brutal. Sonic the Hedgehog, Lair, Haze, Too Human, Brink, Aliens Colonial Marines etc.
But most of those games were single player focused, and people still bought physical copies. These online service games rely so much on internet perception and a steady stream of revenue over years.
So the flops are so more visible and catastrophic than they were before.
