Watched this trailer with my kid, they sat there confused and stationary the entire time and then when it was over looked annoyed at me and went back to games and toys.

Just in case you are wondering what the targeted demographic thinks of this film.

I see Jack Black has become the "also starring The Rock" of safe/lazy/shitty vidya adaptations. I wish they'd lean into the absurdity of these movies (at least with the casting) and do something that's so bad it's actually entertaining - kind of like the '93 Super Mario movie with Bob Hoskins. Then again, if they had it in them to do that, they'd probably be able to come up with fresh ideas instead of vidya adaptation #1262 or popular franchise sequel/prequel/spinoff #5134.

Yeah I know Minecraft is still popular with kids but this seems like ten years past peak Minecraft mania. Now it's just sort of a thing in the background, would be like expecting a kid to get excited over an Etch a Sketch movie.
 
Those animals remind me of those “Steven in Smash” renders people kept making before he was actually confirmed to be in Smash.

Minecraft has a low-poly pixel style, the fans enjoy this low-poly pixel style. It's not viewed as a critical flaw of the game.

The movie should've been low-poly pixel graphics.
