It's not to win or to select someone who you think is the most amazing person, it's just to show the government that it has to care about you on some level, rather than its default of not caring about you at all.

Like really, what are the consequences? The auth left zog and the auth right zog don't get my vote? Yeah, they're never going to. Because they're never going to adopt any policies that I would vote for, because that's not what they're paid to enact. Neither party is competing for my vote, and nobody else is a threat to them. It literally doesn't matter.

Might still vote lolbert even though Oliver is a stinkditch licking faggot who believes in puberty blockers, gay access to children, the wage gap, the electoral college and unchecked immigration. But it is not going to change a thing. Low voter turnout indicates that the state does not have the democratic mandate and is useful for future regimes to legitimize their own rule and overthrowing of the previous government, IF they can get high voter turnout
