Well the Feds told the school to keep an eye on the kid. The question is what happened next from there. Was there a psychological assessment on the kid? Did CPS look at his home life?
The aunt seems pretty sure the kid and an extremely rough time of it. The aunt initially blamed the father, but then says she realized it was the mother all along. The mother was abusing drugs. The parents had separated at one point. No idea for how long or if they even got back together.
This sounds like a situation where a family getting the Rekieta treatment from CPS could have saved the 4 shooting victims. Mother getting drug tests on the regular.
Who else knows what the kid was dealing with. But it doesn't sound like bullying at school was his primary problem.
He posted about doing it online before. He didn't do it. But he got a visit from the Fed.
He calls in again to say he is going to do it. Nobody stops him so he goes ahead and does it.
Since he was trying to make it easy to get caught and stopped, this may have been his way of making a cry for help. He just didn't get the response from the authorities that he wanted. They ignored him.
Hell, since the kid was skipping class and school on the regular, it sounds like the teachers and school was ignoring him too.
It is great that the aunt says she is going to fight so hard for her nephew. It is sad that she didn't have the foresight to know he needed intervention ahead of time. A call to CPS might have made the difference.
