It's quite simply rough salt. It's actually good for things like steak rubs because it abrades the surface when you rub with it. Otherwise, though, it's just salt. There's nothing magical about it. Once it dissolves in liquid, it's just NaCl like any other salt.what IS kosher salt? no recipe i have ever made that asked for 'kosher salt' didn't benefit, just as well, from regular table salt
i'm starting to think it's just some fancy wording all the fags in the cooking circkejerk community repeat to sound like little nonsense like that matters, when in reality it doesn't
I do recommend it for rubs, though, because it actually does do a better job when rubbing it in than normal salt.
Actually they're not diatoms, they're isopods, an order of crustaceans. Many rabbis have actually ordained they're basically okay. Only ultra Orthodox weirdoes throw a total shit fit about these tiny harmless things.I always assumed it was mined salt for ultra orthodox Jews who can't risk ingesting shellfish. Like how they won't drink NYC tap water as it contains tiny diatoms which technically have a shell and live in the ocean
Anyone who would live in NYC and not drink the top notch tap water there is retarded. Even if it does have an extremely small number of absolutely harmless isopods in it.
It's really gross how their noses take up so much of their face
