You can always make a joke about someone. Their problem is the audience isn't receptive to it anymore. People loathe Kamala and generally want Trump to win. And the general climate is that this matters. People don't want to laugh ironically at the current political situation in a detached manner anymore. They care. Throwing in some crude South Park comedy mocking a "giant douche" or whatever they do, is just... well, childish now. Money is tight and the election matters.

This reminds me of the UK show Spitting Image. When Margaret Thatcher left and was replaced with John Major, the writers said they had about two weeks of just floundering trying to figure out how to write jokes about him. With Thatcher they almost wrote themselves but they could find nothing interesting about Major, no funny characteristics, no wild political views. He was just... John Major. Then suddenly it clicked with someone and they made his boringness the joke itself. The puppet was literally grey.

You can always find a way to do humour. But the only humour they'd want to do (can do?) is lots of jabs at him, they wont do it against the Dems. And much of their audience wont like that.

Also, there’s at least a little bit of truth to their stated reason, even though your point is also true. They’ve burned through all of their good Trump material and… quite a bit of their bad material, and considering the fact they’d be expected to at least make an attempt at covering both sides, they’d have to repeat shit for Trump to even do lackluster and limbless hits on Kamala. They’ve kinda genuinely fucked themselves some there, even if the explanation is also somewhat bullshit.

You know how the Dems are, they don't carefully plan ahead, have contingency plans or think about consequences. It's a gaggle of Muppets trying to get through one door. And one of them thought it was a good idea to shoot the doorman. The catastrophic failure of that attempt can not be overlooked. It made Trump more palatable to the Public and unified a lot of people around him. I would go so far as to say musk, RFK, tusi and even Zuckerberg would not have supported him as much now without it. It's given Trump a licence to actually be a peacemaker and step across the aisle.

The Dems can't shoot shit again without either risking a lopsided civil war, normalizing the idea of grass roots assassinations or risk further failure that will directly link them to the attempts.

They especially need to be careful now that Trump has vance, remember the shooting took place before the vp pick and likely influenced it.

And then they made everything worse with the hearings where the only two logical conclusions coming out of it were:

1. The institutes of our nation are profoundly incompetent due to the embrace of Democrat-backed DEI initiatives.
2. The US government tried to have a former President and current political rival to the establishment assassinated.

Either option doesn't inspire faith in them and I've seen more people saying the stuff out loud that I used to only see on this forum.

Catching up on this thread and late, but yeah it’s crazy. And what’s absent from that list - injury to the baby. It’s solely focused on the mother. Stretch marks are not a life ending injury, and neither is a bit of extra body hair that falls out in a few months.

It’s not over 10% per time, it’s basically per month you have a chance and I think if you’re healthy at 25 it’s about 25% per cycle. At that age it’s 80% within three months of trying.

What’s interesting is how many are sub fertile, some women get knocked up as soon as they try but an awful lot are not after even a year. This to me hints at a massive problem, we are rapidly becoming a species below replacement rate, not simply isolated populations not reproducing

I don't know if I should make a dedicated thread for this or ask here, though it certainly is about US politics and I'm really just looking for a modest take on this.

Basically I was not that politically aware when the whole Bush election thing happened, hanging chads and all that. I wasn't a kid kid but I was young and I had no alternate sources of information back then unlike now. All I knew was Bush got elected but it was due to some dubious fraud thing in Florida. Also, I remembered being shown video of Republicans trying to break down a door to prevent counting from being done. Now that I've seen wide-scale propaganda and misinformation in real time I feel like I should go back and revisit my memories and get an accurate take on what happened. It's a foggy area of knowledge for me.

Unfortunately the web being what it is these days I don't know where I would get a good unbiased overview of those events. Anyone want to give me the TL;DR of Bush's election that year? It's a damning indictment of the world that this forum is one of the most best sources of truth I know.

I was a kid during that time but I definitely remember people hating on bush saying he stole the presidency. There definitely was shenanigans that night just like 2020. I just hope they don’t go full retard again and try pulling the same shit. But knowing them they will try.

What I do recall is that the Dems and the media were freaking out that the Repubs were cheating and Gore was robbed. There was a lot of that going on.

The moment I noticed media were in the tank for the Dems was when Clinton was on the Tonight Show (or was it Arsenio?) playing the saxophone and acting like a celebrity. Reagan had actually been a celebrity but once he became president he was a politician and unless I missed it, he didn't do the late night or daytime rounds. Again, my opinion but 1) I think Clinton was astroturfed almost as hard as Kamala and 2) he was the one who turned politics into entertainment.

I was at ground zero for all that. Republicans weren't trying to stop votes from being counted, they were trying to prevent partisan arbiters from being allowed to divine the intent of ballots that were previously disqualified because the intent was unclear. For example, a ballot that had both candidates for Pres marked (both Bush and Gore marked), Miami-Dade wanted their "vote checkers" to be allowed to declare that ballot was meant to be cast for Gore and add it to his tally like a month after the election. It was really brazen. The 2000 election was decided by about 500 votes in a single state (Florida). Bush won it legitimately although by a razor thin margin. Multiple independant hand-recounts that took about 18-24 months to complete at the time confirmed that. Anything saying otherwise now 24 years later is revisionist.

This. Biden was an easy target in the debate this year, but if Trump can stick pouncing only when necessary as he did this should be an easy W for him because Harris isn't a very effective puppet off the leash.

Yes. Until Democrats became dedicated to playing "No U" to be the opposite of whatever Trump was - they bitched about 2000 all the way until the 2016 election. It was remarkable seeing ol Bernie heel turn on every claim of a rigged system when Trump said so as well.
