You get that feeling from a lot of SJW art nowadays. Like they no longer have a real 'love' or passion for their subject/fandom anymore and are only into for shallow reasons ("it's progressive! it's popular!"). Maybe I'm just overanalyzing it, I don't know.

It's such a shame, because some of these artists have actual potential and they're fucking wasting it on "teehee I'm gonna make x group SOOOOOO MAD LOL" bullshit.

I can understand making Mei chubby, it suits her shy clumsy character; and Zarya has a broad waist to make her imposing. But these three ladies need sly dynamism, especially Dva; that's why their official designs focus a lot on the legs.
Most redraws in this thread are made by people who clearly don't understand character design, it hurts to see

Did you accidentally post the wrong pic or something? As has been mentioned, this isn't SJW art, it's a Sims glitch. The closest thing to SJW art is the username thefruitythebooty, in that you could kinda sorta view it as an SJW-esque name.

Eh, they're gods and it's Greek Mythology. Hades turning himself into a woman to get freaky with his wife would be one of the tamer myths if it happened (hell, both of them being women in the first place would still be tamer).

A.) I'm pretty sure Persephone was tricked into staying in the underworld with Hades for a certain amount of months in a year, so I wouldn't really expect her to be so into him like that.
B.) I'm pretty sure in most classical depictions, Hades looks like a badass warrior with a burly body and a full beard wearing his magic helmet. Here he just looks like the vampire girl from Adventure Time, which is just kinda dumb considering he's supposed to be a menacing god of death.

I do like the actual art though, it's not spectacular but it's got some charm to it.

Yeah. They try to "modernize" them in a way and in the process take out the "european" aspects of it to make it more "diverse"/american-centric (hence why asian greek gods fanart and such). Which really sucks for all true greeks and french who are proud of their own characters and wouldn't like seeing them turned into California hipsters...

Really funny when you consider there's like, asian mythology and polynesian and african religions and myths and all that, but they never get as much attention in tumblr as "white" religions. And then they make all those racebended graphics of Zeus or Aphrodite. lewl.

I could see "Asian" /asiatic interpretations of Apollo or Aphrodite or Diana, as the general consensus in myth studies is that they were "imported" from the Near East (ie: the fertile crescent area or the steppe). But race bending Greek gods just seems exceptional.

Most of them are American, and while they screech and brag about how foreign their origins are, they will often know close to nothing when it comes to actual culture unless they can apply it to their hip, moder, american ways of life.
Others would say it's blasphemy because those gods and cultures are sacred.
Good to know that Greek/Roman/Celtic/Norse Mythology and the Bible aren't sacred to you, Tumblr.
