Fire Emblem series

I've not played the AW switch reboot yet - I don't like how plastic everything looks and the character art gives off calarts vibes - but playing through this did make me regret never getting to play these games as a kid. Very solid game overall.

Honestly in a nutshell the Switch remake of the first 2 GBA titles are meh. There's almost no new content and the art and aesthetics do look worse compared to how much more crisper the GBA games looked but on the slight plus side, the AI in Reboot-Camp actually obeys FoW rules as well like DoR does, which immediately makes AW1's campaign a bit more tolerable to go through.

I wasn't too fond of DoR myself back when it came out and the campaign's final couple missions frustrated me to no end, but I will give it credit where it's due.

I am not sure about DoR, never cared for that one but it's true to an extent.

If you have an Artillery in a forest surrounded by many other forests in FoW its true, the AI will not know where it is.
But if you shoot with it the AI will immediately zone in on it by scouting for it through all possible tiles.

But this is something you as a player can do as well so its in the realm of fairness, all you have to do is move to all the possible tiles and cancel the movement if you're not trapped.
This does cost fuel though and I think the AI won't "waste" any fuel scouting as it goes for the right option right away.

It sure beats what happened in the GBA games that's for sure.

Playing an FE8 iron man and well, I just had to laugh at this support conversation.

ai hubert could be reading our posts as we speak.
i love finding the freaky and outlandish shit the writers sneak into some of the supports. if miyamoto saw what they were associating his company with via the original japanese niles supports grandpa would finally go to sleep forever

Chapter 10 gives you so much to do, no turn is ever boring and I wish Fire Emblem did more stuff like this. High pressure defend maps are the best.
Weirdly enough the best strategy in defense maps is to be ultra agressive and control as much space as possible.

Also another thing I love about chapter 10 is how each deployement slot counts.
I most games in chapters not deploying everyone is fine but here you really need everyone to contribute as much as possible.

Who was your god damn waifu, you can't talk about UO and not mention that, it's on the boxart man.
Okay so... The answer is 900 year old witch granny. But I don't think, beyond the sharp artwork, UO is really all that appealing as a Waifu Worship game. A good one would be amakano but it's not in English now IS IT SHIRAVUNE!?

I thought Alain's supports with Scarlett and Berengaria were sweet, but I find the UO romance options more intriguing for the borderline horrorcow territory they can get it into. Alain can get together with his cousin who looks a lot like his mom, a millennia old witch who is not actually jailbait but remembers when your older retainers were still children, a Deedlit expy who makes it clear you're going to be in for a lot of heartache in the long run, and any number of furries. Wilfred would be proud

My only gripe along these lines with UO is that every relationship gets 3 pretty short conversations (and sometimes a little main story dialogue) to develop. For what they are, they convey the relationship's progress very effectively, a quality I actually think deserves a lot of praise. The romance adds a lot to the game and, I think is implemented pretty well. But, a limitation is a limitation. I have the same small gripe with a lot of JRPGs that include romance elements.

My only issue is the corner case where what you primarily want is a "pick your favorite anime girl to say nice things to you" experience. You'd probably be better served elsewhere. And, let's face it, 99.9% of the time, if you're interested in UO, that's not what you're there for. And if you're the remaining tenth of a percent, you're probably 14, and don't even know where to look for a better experience.

Also, I really like screaming about Amakano not being in English because "maybe if I scream loud and long enough into the void, by some miracle, it'll help drive up interest and make my dreams come true." Which are essentially the incomprehensible ramblings of a deranged madman, pay them no heed nor pity.

I gave the ring to the best well-endowed curse slinger I had available at the time... Wouldn't change a thing.

Don't fuck with the druids.

Voice Actor autism is a blessing and a curse. The information I have would break lesser men.

For example, did you know the voice of Marth in JP has played a character who, among several other heinous acts, chopped up and ate his friends.

He then followed it up by playing the best character in anything ever. So, I guess that balances it out.1000000890.jpg
