I kind of like combining this with the previous idea of scrolling text along the sides. Freedom on one side in runes and Sneed on the other.

I suggest some nordic runes on the side of the image or on the sleeve that says something real art-of-war-sy, like "Patience wins wars" or some shit.
For the symbol on the belt, you could do ol' reliable and just have a noose. Or the aforementioned text.

Futhark runes are cool for sure, but Blackletter littera textualis formata is the greatest typeface. Calligraphers please respond. Lol.
