‘Operation Animes’ Shuts Down 16 Illegal Streaming Sites - Japan and Brazil have teamed up to fight piracy by shutting down anime streaming sites.

If you woke up this morning hoping to catch up on One Piece or maybe some Jujutsu Kaisen episodes on your favorite illegal streaming site, you probably had a rude awakening. You probably discovered that the site doesn’t exist anymore.

That’s because Japan and Brazil teamed up to obliterate 16 of the biggest illegal streaming sites on the Internet because they dared to stream anime.

Japan has been steadfast in its fight against anime piracy. And it makes sense why. It’s one of their biggest cultural exports and rakes in billions of dollars a year, and they’d probably be making a lot more if these sites didn’t exist. So, they collaborated with Brazilian authorities on a special operation called “Operation Animes.”

The first phase of the operation, in February and March 2023, resulted in the closure of 36 anime pirating sites. The second phase has been underway since September 2023 and has been responsible for the closure of 16 another sites, including Aniwave aka 9anime. Three of the site takedowns were reportedly following criminal charges by Toei Animation, Toho, and Bandai Namco Filmworks.

The whole operation has been spearheaded by an organization called CODA, or the Content Overseas Distribution Association. Based in Japan, the organization enacts countermeasures against global piracy of Japanese media, mostly anime and manga. All of this coincides with a Brazilian antipiracy initiative launched in 2019 called “Operation 404” which aims to cease the operations of piracy sites, apps, and social media accounts.

Brazilian authorities conducted “knock and talk” raids of the site owners’ premises. Eleven of the sites were voluntarily surrendered by their operators. The sites now redirect to a CODA page announcing their closure.

One has to wonder how effective these operations are going to be, considering that piracy sites are a dime a dozen. It’s essentially a giant game of Internet whack-a-mole. You can take down 16 of them—but will another 50 quickly take their place?

Remember kids, media piracy does not meet the biblical definition of theft, and denying those who produce immoral media or seek excessive greed their income is a moral imperative.

Lula is banking on a Kamala election win, to go further all out on the war against piracy, so that Western Woke goyslop is the only available media left.
I heard somebody make a joke once that goyslop is the ultimate anti piracy solution, its media so bad nobody even wants to pirate it which is true, I have watched like 2 movies from the past 4 years and one of them was Godzilla Minus One. I come from a time when piracy was seen as free marketing and ultimately a good thing cause it indicated that the thing was good enough to be pirated.
Brazilians deserves to live in a drug gangs ridden police state.
They deserve the BOPE putting shotgun slugs in them.

Good, anime needs to make money or they'll take BlackRock bucks and reboot Goku into a tranny nigger.
the anime industry rakes in billions already, media producers are just greedy and want even more without regard for the fact that the majority of people who pirate will never pay and would sooner just not watch

And 20 more take their place… losing battle tbh.

As someone else said, I’d happily support the creators if stuff was actually available. Limiting series to Japan means the only way we can watch shit is illegally. The punishment of aggressive adverts that bypass adblock(s) (check out Anna’s arse!!) is punishment enough. Manga is the same, I read too fast to make buying any worth it though.

I’ll admit I do have a CR, but that’s due to me wanting to use my phone while streaming. The selection is limited of course and I’ll easily rinse it for decent crap.

Anime has fallen
IDK why, but your post reminds of a Tweet from Jap Twitter where Japs were discussing their favourite foreign anime shows (South Park was considered a "basic bitch" one). Seeing a bunch of American weebs realizing that while everyone outside of Japan uses "anime" to refer to Japanimation, actual Japs use "anime" to refer to all animation was a site to behold.

Anyways, this won't do shit. Japan doesn't have jurisdiction over all the countries of Juan, John, Chang, Abdul, Mutombo, Pajeet, etc. They can just move their files somewhere else. There are also issues with localization and many being impatient. Those will never be fixed so it's a losing game.

The journo is cooming at the thought of hurting the lives of normie kids. Ropemaxx, faggot.

Meh, casuals. True weebs know how badly Japanese mangles English loan words. Once you've seen that, you've seen everything. Even BBC pidgin can't compare.

I don't know about the Bible but watching pirate streams, at least in the US, is not illegal. The guy who wrote the law said so.

The law will not sweep in normal practices by online service providers, good faith business disputes, noncommercial activities, or in any way impact individuals who access pirated streams or unwittingly stream unauthorized copies of copyrighted works. Individuals who might use pirate streaming services will not be affected.

But I would never say it's morally imperative to watch anime.

watching pirate streams
streams have their uses, and new releases of stuff you don't plan on watching again is one of them, but ultimately its a casuals way to pirate. Professionals torrent and archive, ensuring access to valued media regardless of internet connection or future availability.

That's not what I said.

They can't be arsed to release LoGh on bluray, so I keep what I'm doing: hoisting the black flag and laughing my ass off.

Seig Kaiser Reinhardo!

But seriously. The anime scene is garbage and uncoordinated. Compare with the music sharing scene and it couldn't be more different. There is still no OiNK's Pink Palace of anime, and you need an OiNK to die for it to evolve to a proper hydra like today. That's without considering eg. Pedro's BT Music, and the other private music sharing channels. I think part of it is the difference in competency between the two populations, but still.

That said, IPTorrents and TorrentLeech, which are the two Scene-adjacent private sites I use, have practically everything. Only recently have I found any lack; in particular, the early Super Dimension series that weren't Macross/Robotech are hard to dig up. Just recently finished LoGH!

RIP Kimcartoon, too. There was so much lost media archived there. All those moments lost in time, like tears in rain.

Keep trying, you greedy cunts. How many fucking times do I have to bring up the Gabe Newell quote? The service you cunts provide is shit, and while I'm not big into anime, I'm aware that you can't "legally" obtain a large swath of anime if you're not a fucking Nip living in Japan, or at all because these niggers refuse to re-release or translate it.

Piracy will always be based, and greedy corpo fucks can sit and spin.
