Ah, then there might be some mix-up with the new troon witch character then because some people have been saying that BH's VA is actually a man identifying as a woman.
Regardless, I found the lip-service and enforcement of pronouns Respawn and the voice actress around the character pretty annoying, to the point that Bloodhound 'ambiguous gender' is not because they're a mysterious character in the way that is interesting for a sci-fi setting, but rather to make a point for our current day dominant ideology. I feel like in futuristic sci-fi setting, you can do a lot more interesting storytelling with the concept of gender or even identity because of the changing social norms and technology. I don't know how capable of biotech APEX lore is, but for a setting with space travel and robots, I'm sure that there are more aspects to gender that's beyond the magic word of 'I identify as' and mainlining horse piss.
I've made a similar point regarding Joan Lambert in Alien, it's set in the future, there could be very well a technology to actually change your sex, people will do that and move on with their lives - but nah, troons gotta claim her as trans representation. Hell, you can actually create physiological profile that doesn't fit typical male or female too if the technology allows, but the focus on representation means that any gender deviations in fiction has to be framed through early 21st century western country lenses.
