It's interesting to think about what could have happened if this went through but at the time, im pretty sure he wanted to minimize as much resentment and strife as possible. There had just been an attempted coup before the emperor surrendered and Americans that parachuted into Japan to get prisoners out almost got shot. He did not want to push his luck, and I think in the long run that was the correct decision.

The article has the usual minimization, mischaracterization, and appeal to authority that defines mainstream journalism, stating that because city officials said it’s not happening, IT’S NOT HAPPENING, CHUD!
In addition to brazenly claiming that the flood of browns “has helped revitalize the town”, the demi-nigger journo Chris Cameron and his kike supervisor Miriam Jordan take especial pleasure in handwaving away the school bus crash that killed an 11 year-old boy, and seriously injured another. The 50 children who survived having their school bus flip upside down received minor injuries and the life long trauma of seeing one of their classmates die in front of them. All that horror courtesy of Hermanio Joseph, a foreign nigger who should not be here.
The pain of the residents of Springfield at the harm done to their children is described as irrational and illegitimate:
”Resentment has also brewed among some residents over the immigrants’ presence, and those emotions bubbled over recently after an immigrant driver was involved in a fatal school bus crash.”
These two journos are like a pair of health inspectors watching as a pot is negligently allowed to boil over in a dirty kitchen: absolutely contemptuous and disgusted.

The Trump campaign promoted an outlandish false claim on Monday that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, have abducted and eaten their neighbors’ pets, again demonizing migrants as the campaign seeks to attack Vice President Kamala Harris on immigration.
A news release from the campaign on Monday recounted the falsehoods, which were amplified earlier in the day by former President Donald J. Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, and sought to stoke fear, saying “it’s coming to your city next.”
Mr. Vance, as Ohio’s junior senator, has in recent months attacked the growing Haitian population in Springfield, a group whose members are living and working in the United States legally. Job opportunities in Springfield have attracted thousands of Haitians since the pandemic, with city officials estimating that as many as 20,000 have arrived. By most accounts, the immigrant community has helped revitalize the town, though it has put pressure on housing, schools and hospitals. (Springfield had roughly 58,000 people as of the last census in 2020.)
Resentment has also brewed among some residents over the immigrants’ presence, and those emotions bubbled over recently after an immigrant driver was involved in a fatal school bus crash. Mr. Vance has latched onto the complaints of community members and has denounced the Haitians as being in the United States illegally, “draining social services” and “generally causing chaos.”
Other prominent Republican elected officials and organizations, including Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, the House Republican campaign arm and the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee, promoted false claims about pets or park wildlife being eaten on Monday.
The notion stems from viral social media posts that city officials say there is no evidence for.
Karen Graves, a spokeswoman for the city of Springfield, said in a statement that “there have been no credible reports or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals within the immigrant community.” The city’s police division also said it had received no reports related to pets being stolen and eaten, according to The Springfield-News Sun.
And Leann Castillo, the executive director for the Clark County Park District, said that they “have absolutely no evidence of this happening.” Ms. Castillo said that the false claim had spread for months and that “random people will call and ask” about it.
A spokesman for Mr. Vance did not provide evidence to support the claim, but said his remarks were made in response to a high volume of calls and emails over the past several weeks from concerned Springfield residents, who have at times packed city commission meetings to air their complaints.
Some residents, in those meetings, have accused their Haitian neighbors of invading the town — echoing the ominous “border invasion” language used by Mr. Trump, who sees his harsh rhetoric on the border and immigration as a winning campaign strategy.
The false claims being promoted by the Trump campaign tapped into old racist stereotypes that have been directed at immigrants, accusing them of abducting and killing animals to cook and eat or, in the case of Haitian migrants, using them in religious sacrifices.
Haiti and migrants from the country, who are overwhelmingly Black, have been the focus of Mr. Trump’s vitriol before. Trump has to let Vance build, and also Vance is able to play up the younger aspect. Vance's appeal is weird because he's supposed to appeal to a demographic Trump doesn't appeal to.
Realistically though, I would save Vance is really a non-factor until the VP debate if it ever happens.
The desire would be to select a VP that could take over for the direction of the republican party after Trump's second championship ring.

Yeah, that's why they probably won't do it. Either way it's bad for the dems. She fucks up, Walz really can't do anything cause that guy's a fool and the pressure will be insane. If she does great and Trump blows it, they don't need it either. So my odds are low it'll happen unless Trump/Vance really make a big deal about them not doing it, and they might.

I think if tomorrow night goes bad for Kamala, they’ll have to do the VP debate. Walz may be an idiot, but the alternative is allowing trump and Vance to say “look, she’s afraid.” That line worked already, and that was when the media could sweep for her.
When she’s bombed, it gives more merit to the “she’s afraid” line, and means they’re between a rock and a hard place.
But I also expect that if tomorrow goes bad for her, it will be a compounding effect. We already know she’s a pain to work for, who blames everyone but herself. I expect she’ll fire a bunch of upper level people and make it even more of a hell for those who stay. Which will just lead to more losses, worse decisions, and round and round it goes, where it ends, nobody knows.
Edit: also, remember that polling is beginning to tighten up, and there really hasn’t been a great post-convention bounce. I’d wager it’s already starting to get pretty hectic in the campaign, and that if things go bad, we may see turnover much like her first year as VP (which was what, like 90%? I know it was insane).
