I also agree that you don't necessarily drop things when you nod off. Nodding off (in the sleepy sense) isn't the same as flat out falling asleep or fainting. The nod off is that half-asleep state. I've nodded off on the couch holding a phone or book, and not dropped it. Snapped awake, confused, with an aching hand because it was still holding my phone up. Dropping things happens when you actually fall asleep and your body relaxes.
If you've ever been in a car with a drowsy driver, you'll know they don't slump over like a person who fainted. Their hands will still be on the wheel, maybe even gripping tightly. Only their head nods, hence "nodding off." It's when they wake up that their hands jerk and the car serves.
I do feel a bit sad, but not disappointed because we (especially us oldfags) deserve an on stream demise.
We were all hoping she was suffering a genuine health emergency, when she was probably just asleep for longer than normal. It just boggles us normal humans that someone like her hasnt dropped dead yet.
When Grams' obit was trolled to the point that the family had to take it offline for several months, Chins just shrugged it off as "This koind of thing happens all the toime."
The most recent thing where she said Smee was getting annoying emails, and Chantal claimed "she (Smee) just ignores them."
Yeah fucking right. Maybe
all she can do is ignore them, but if they don't bother her, it's only because Smee has burned out on being concerned about her daughter.
Shame can be illustrated by "would you do it in front of your mother." It doesn't mean everything you do needs to be mom-friendly (like your romantic life), but it's a handy barometer for figuring out if your conscience is okay with something (like how you treat your romantic partner, or let them treat you.)
It's supposed to be how a conscience develops in a child to begin with. Would your mom be happy if you shoplifted stickers? No? Then it's probably not okay to do it. Would your mom be okay with you showing your fat fupa on camera, then running off to Kuwait to marry a man you met two months ago? No? Then it might not be a good idea!
I would be fucking mortified if randoms were harassing my mother as a result of my career choice of embarrassing myself online. Most people would. Insulting or threatening someone's mother is a universal provocation. "Leave my mom out of this" is a standard line from public punching bags.
But not Chantal. "My mom doesn't care" really means "I don't care about my mom."
What has been the longest time the monster was in slumber? At this point you gotta wonder if you can synchronize Chantal events with the time Chantal spends away from the Internet (because she just cannot stay away no matter what she says).
She also has the hijab these days. I can see her going through sluggish periods where she sleeps a long time, and wakes only to feed and stream-- back in the day we'd get those llama streams for hours on end.
Now she can't do that because she needs to get the hijab on, and I can see her not having the druthers. She could do those "podcast style" streams but then she'd had to be explain why she's not on camera. The only real excuse would be that she's sick and blah blah. I can see her going through periods of high blood sugar sluggishness that she just can't handle any of this. And knowing that she'll get more views when she eventually comes back, the longer she stays away.
Chantal is so lonely and empty that she needs the attention of her viewers all the time. So I do think she has to be feeling especially crummy, rather than JUST doing it to tease her audience.
Part of me also wants to say "we all want a break from others sometimes" but I don't think that's true for Chantal lol. Being alone with her thoughts is a fate worse than death. She'd rather record herself eating and talk to no one than live the reality of spending a moment alone.
I wonder if/how often she's binged on camera and not posted it. It would probably be hard to not post it, since she's so impulsive, and not posting it would be throwing away easy money. Is it possible that in periods of silence like this, she's attempted a binge video but it was so gross she actually didn't post it? (Nah probably not.)
