WhatifAltHist / Rudyard Lynch - History youtuber, galaxy brained, no credentials and no sex

I'm not so sure that the reason he's so blackpilled is due to the internet alone. From "Hanging Out w/ Rudyard from WhatIfAltHist | 315b" from the Sitch & Adam Show, he claimed that he knew the whole world was going to collapse when he was 16, which is years before the content on his channel changed or he showed signs of such a negative outlook on other media platforms like twitter.

From the clip above, it seems like he already wanted the world system to collapse and merely was looking for evidence to prove afterwards what he already believed. This fits a lot more with what I've detailed a lot about in previous posts, that Rudyard has a huge ego (either developed after the success of his youtube channel or already pre-existing) that was damaged by the fact he's a below average IQ autist who thinks himself to be some kind of brilliant, successful scholar/entrepreneur that was kept down in life/school because of an evil bureaucratic managerial leftist system which encompasses every institution in society.

I don't hate the guy, but he is very hard to like given that his ego is the size of a blimp and will very likely lead to him crashing and burning like the Hindenburg at some point years from now.
Rudyard is clearly mentally unwell he lives in a rich country with a rich lifestyle but he still feels miserable. Not trying to powerlevel too much but I am from iran and I see people living lives of poverty and they are much happier and in a better mental state than rudyard. I will have some empathy for this guy and say that his parents did not raise him well when it came to handling his ego.

He said his mother is a unironic schizo so take that as you will.

I mean; it's not as if he hasn't admitted this himself. One of his common points is the idea that people before modern society and people in poor backwater countries are happier than people in the west because they're apparently more spiritually grounded and not dealing with as much nihilistic materialism. Now granted I haven't actually seen statistics on the matter of quality of life & overall happiness in poor vs rich countries, I just thought it would be worth noting his perspective on this.

thats one thing I agree with him on modern society is not happy even with materialism. Obviously its better to have higher living standards but when those come at societal bonds like family then the world gets hurt.

I know this is supposed to be a thread about ruddy, and honestly while I do think he makes and goes on extremely esoteric rabbit holes that just amounts to "420 KRATOM BLAZE IT CIA ELON MUSK DARK MAGIC ALCHEMY BROOO", he can make some good points. Curt on the other hand? He's a whole character in and of himself. He's basically the synthesis of a self-admitted spurg and schizo facebook boomer dad combined into one being. There's this one debate that I think brilliantly sums up Curt's whole shtick.
I present to you, the debate between LiquidZulu (scottish ancap) & curt doolittle:
from the get-go, curt begins to go on esoteric rants about property and blackmail and judge law and such. Liquidzulu, very properly, asks him what the fuck he means by judge law and whatever esoteric rant he is going on about. As the livestream moves on LiquidZulu is clearly getting more disgruntled, trying to take the pure logical value of what curt is saying. There's an especially funny clip at 56:22 where Zulu summarizes what Curt's whole speech was about, then curt respond with "well- I- uh, don't know what you mean". Then Zulu says, "well I spat your words back at you, if you don't know what it means then we're in pretty dire straits.". Which I think perfectly sums up a lot of what Curt's ideology is, its schizophrenia repackaged in fancy words. And then when pressed, he'll stumble and then repackage whatever acid he took that week into another irrelevant tirade.
Curt Doolittle is undoubtedly a genius and will save out species. In that debate he was sick, he is better now.

Rudyard's manager seems to be named "Marek Wright", from a screenshot he uploaded to Twitter IMG_1253.jpeg

Manager for what exactly?
As far as I can deduce, he has a company dedicated to his channel. I'm not sure what all of his staff positions are, but there is himself (obviously), Marek (who seems to manage emails, sponsorships, etc.), an unknown editor, and there used to be a researcher named Seamus (likely left 1 year+ ago, not sure if he was replaced). I'm not a business owner by any means, but with how low quality his content is and how infrequently he uploads, I can't imagine why he needs so many people to do the work that one hardworking person could do alone, seems like a waste of money. It also begs the question, if he hires someone to manage all of his sponsorships, communications, editing, thumbnail production, research, etc. then what exactly does he do all day? I find it hard to believe it takes 40 hours a week for multiple weeks to record a 50-minute rant.

As of a year ago, Marek apparently "manages the business side of the show, takes care of contracts, added stock footage, gave [Rudyard] advice, and makes it so [Rudyard] can do more videos":

Marek claims to work for Rudyard full time and make 50k a year. Rudy says he has an editor and used to have a researcher who worked for the Hoover Institute (Seamus). Seamus ended up being too busy from "working a couple other jobs". Marek is Rudyard's best friend. If Rudyard is really making six figures, then where is the money coming from? Sponsorships? Adsense? His "geopolitics consulting firm"?

That's interesting, I really wonder what the finances are like for his channel overall. He's claimed to make six-figures multiple times before, but assuming a bare minimum of $100,000, then just paying himself and Marek would be $150,000/year, not including whatever he pays his editor.

I did find that in his video "How to Survive the Coming Crisis" (~July 2023) he stated that he lost a third of his sponsor revenue during the previous year.

I'm not sure how much money he receives from sponsors because at least in his recent videos, his sponsors seem to be very small and obscure companies which might not pay that much. I presume that most of his money comes from YouTube monetization because that's what he seems to be concerned about losing, as shown by his tweet where he begs people to pledge money to him in the event that he gets demonetized on YouTube.

My best rough estimate is that his channel has ~120M views, and assuming that all of those were monetized with a $4.30 per 1,000 view rate (an approximate rate for educational content, not sure if his counts as that but being generous), he would have made ~$500,000 so far from the years he's been doing it. That doesn't seem particularly stable either because that would only pay his and Marek's salary for 3 years, but most of his views came from years ago. Over 2 years ago, he would regularly make videos that got over 1M views but it's much rarer now.

For example, if you take the average views per video in each month you can see a slow decline.

Feb. 2022 ~590,000
Mar. 2022 ~1,400,000
April 2022 ~930,000

Feb. 2023 ~600,000
Mar. 2023 ~460,000
April 2023 ~770,000

Feb. 2024 ~600,000
Mar. 2024 ~370,000
April 2024 ~330,000

I don't see how his income stream is stable honestly; I think the pandemic really boosted his view count a few years ago to the point he could pay for a new house, car, employees, and a six-figure salary for himself but now he's declining from that artificial boost.

Either Rudy is lazy or wasteful with how he approaches his channel.

I gave his SocialBlade a brief glance and it makes even less sense for him to have a staff.

Considering Marek claims about $4.1k a month from the channel according to himself and whatever he pays his editor, it's no wonder why Rudy goes on rants about "YouTube demonetization" when he has the financial savvy of a hillbilly winning the lottery. I checked to see if he had a Patreon and he does but it seems like it's been a while since he updated it. Imagine using Zoom for fucking Patreon, my god.

Assuming everyone of his paid patrons paid for the most popular membership, he would get about $1.2k a month which would make $8k a month total excluding sponsorships.

This doesn't include taxes Whatifalthist has to pay, which would be about 22% federal income tax and 9.3% California state income tax out of his $96,000 channel earnings per year. (Excluding sponsorships which would be a fairly marginal increase due to most of the sponsors Rudy takes being relatively obscure)

All in all, Rudy's financial state looks to be fairly dire which could partially explain his downward spiral.

Making the doomer videos is probably keeping him afloat. They started creeping up three years ago and they apparently did good numbers because now it feels like he keeps rereleasing the same video. It's made his channel boring. I got excited when I saw the Unabomber video in my feed, and then it was just another retreading of Mouse Utopia and Leftism and then connecting that back to Ted's writings. I was hoping for him to go over Ted's opinions on how revolt is better than reform and his ideas on how to go about achieving said revolt, because that would've been interesting and new.

I hope he does more "Understanding X Civilization" style vids soon. Those are what made me subscribe.

Rudyard has been crying a lot over the past few days. Even though his numbers are better than ever, the hate is really getting to him.
He seems very desperate to debate Nick Fuentes for some reason. The only reason I can figure is that he seriously thinks he should be on the level of online political influence like Nick, Hasan, or Destiny. I've heard on and off that he was going to debate Fuentes, but I don't think he realizes how badly he would be destroyed, not even because Fuentes is more knowledgeable but just on the basis of him being charismatic and rudyard being autistic and awkward .

Also,

lol, lmao even. This is a photo of him from a podcast released less than 2 weeks ago.

The bottom line is that Rudyard handles hate extremely poorly. It's extremely common on his twitter that when he makes a terrible, inaccurate map and gets backlash for it that he calls people who disagree with it autistic (one example below). He also got all mad about some random nobody trolling him in his replies (also shown below). He has a very typical playbook for when he gets hate. He usually responds poorly first, sounding very mad, then posts an 'unrelated' rant afterward cloaked in universal language complaining about the hate he got. In the first example, people called him racist for his poorly made map, gets mad about being called racist, then gives a rant about how 'people' don't understand nuance and are autistically obsessed with detail and can't think fluidly. In the second example, someone trolled him, he got mad and threatened to block him, then he made a vague generalized statement about how trolls are bad for the world.

On a side note, it's hilarious how much Rudyard seems to dislike autistic people or anything to do with autism despite him almost certainly being autistic.
