Honeymoon phase. Young kids excited to interact with who they were told was from the LEGENDARY company of video games. They never played starcraft, they never played warcraft, or diablo 2 etc...
But boy oh boy they heard those games were the best of the best (they were great). So this guy must be the bee's knees - maybe he'll hire us!. He talks about how he hires his mods - which as far as I am aware are people he's known for a long time and are basically getting kickbacks for being henchmen.
Not sure I agree. The few streams I've seen of his in the past few months. He had triggers on twitch to get his games if you had enough points saved up.
He kept bringing up "What we're doing with my game", "what we're doing to build an MMO (with the minecraft server)." I believe he claimed several times he was going to be using the code from the minecraft server to make his own MMO one day...
God I wish I could find that.

That's retarded. Unless he has the foresight to architect his code such that the MMO "business logic" is at least decently isolated from the server modding API (Spigot?) integration (which, judging from his diarrhea Heartbound code, he most certainly doesn't) he's gonna have to rewrite all that. Not to mention that even if he did have such foresight, he'd have to write (at least the server part) in a JVM-compatible language (since he's most likely written the mod itself in Java). I'd believe him if he said he's gonna re-use the mechanics and lore or something.

I really don’t think he has a voice changer. in his streams he definitely adds a of boost in low frequencies + a compressor. But a voice changer? Nah. It’s surgery + audio processing. There’s videos of him outside of stream where his voice still has that bit of low end to it. But the videos from years ago his voice is extremely different. I think it’s surgery.

Did he get surgery, voice coaching, or is he a microphone proximity abuser or does he excessively boost the lows?
Maybe it's a combination of multiple factors.
What really matters is that his 'second puberty' story is a lie, and he did something to artificially change his voice.
It's another example of Mald lying and pretending to be something he is not.

This was a great read. I've seen this guy being talked about on some react channels sometimes, notably the time he was against the EU policy change petition things to prevent online DRM from.
Never really paid attention to what he did for work, though I did see somewhere he mentioned he doesn't make much money from what he's doing. Could be true, some people value clout more than cash.
But the thing I find most bizarre with this guy and his ilk... We've all seen YandereDev. We all know how his approach to work and focus on replying and engaging his community instead of just diving in and working on the game screwed over YandereSimulator. That, and the poor project management and how poorly he negociated contractor work, and also who he contracted, if not outright stealing work, instead of having a proper contractor structure.
On the other hand we've also all seen Eric Barone (aka ConcernedApe, Stardew Valley) and Toby Fox (Undertale, Runedelta). ConcernedApe spend loooong periods without giving updates on his blog when he was developing Stardew Valley because he was busy working on the game, to the point people were worried if the game was coming out (he could have had a monthly post, in his case, just saying everything's good, I'm working on it guys).
Why not emulate the successful guys, instead of the losers? Do they not want artistic and creative success? No, they want clout as a measure of success... but clout is fleeting, it doesn't get your name in the history books.
In the end, streaming requires you to entertain an audience. In all cases, this takes away from your focus on whatever you're doing while streaming. The deep focus that creative work requires is incompatible with streaming; all your attention needs to go to your work, it's not entertaining to watch. If you want to put out a successful, enjoyable product, you need to put your head down into your hours and code/draw/compose the hours away. Show it when it's ready.
Also: data structures motherfucker, use them.

Ross has what essentialy is an Abridged series in a content scape where they have lost the spotlight and fairly entertaining retrospectives and showcases that often barely go beyond the hour mark, he also seemingly keeps his personal life out of his content while doing short streams to address parts of his community
Jason has built an empire of carefully curated short form content in a short amount of time by using his catalog of absurdly long streams, gaming the algorithm on both platforms. And while oversharing his personal life in the most embellished way possible, while his viewers form a parasocial relationship based on very basic life advice and shitty MS paint, all of it feeding his ego.
Tl;dr of my autism, Jason is a product of the e-celeb based streaming landscape that has been plaguing the internet ever since twitch became more and more mainstream and he is a gigafaggot for it
