Harris had the bigger task. She needed to give people a reason to vote for her. As I have said before, people do vote -against- a candidate but they have justify it to themselves as voting -for- another. Harris has absolutely nothing,

I disagree. The party of vibes and feelings and emotional policies doesn't need a policy reason to vote for their anointed Vote Blue No Matter Who candidate. All they need is a feeling that their candidate is confident and strong.

Biden failed that basic test in his debate. Kamala projected the idea that she could go head to head with Trump; it's a feeling of confidence and fight, and that will be enough for her brainwashed base. Yes, she was dodging questions and making empty promises the whole time, but that just puts her on par with every other politician in existence. She elevated herself from the level of disaster to the (false) impression of bare competence.

Her voters won't remember a thing she said, they'll only remember the vague sense of relief that their designated figurehead isn't falling apart.

No policy, nobody voted for her, and the line "Why haven't you done it already" drives a massive nail in the final possibility, hope she would do -something-. She utterly failed that and managed to drop a few blunders that seriously hurt the very thing she needed to reinforce.

Observations from my normiesphere: people had tapped out by that point. Trump gave a killer closing and it needed to be his opening, his middle rejoinder, and a 5 second line he said after every empty promise Kamala made. Instead it will be buried by the media, and only the hardcore politics junkies who stuck out the whole thing will have seen it.
