Okay, okay, okay... I need to sperg about art, again. This has been on my mind ever since I quit social media.
Artists have this huge problem with acting like "I made this in _ hours" is a good thing and worth bragging about. It's mainly in regards to digital art, and MAN... I feel like it stunted my growth as an artist growing up. It's actually insane how this is the norm, how fast you can draw in one sitting is applauded as if it's productive when it literally isn't. Unless you are a street artist, drawing a whole picture in one sitting is stupid and counterproductive.
I always compare it to writing novels. Like you wouldn't write a novel in one sitting. You wouldn't write a script in one sitting. The key in being an amazing writer is having a fresh set of eyes to look at and analyze your own writing. Write, go away, come back, revision, write more, repeat. THIS APPLIES TO EVERY ART FORM. Unless the art you do requires something to be done in one sitting.

Partly because they have no genuine problems in life and are obsessed with how others perceive them, which bleeds into their writing style similar to how this dude wrote in his post. He thinks he is being deep and sultry by painting a picture of your average tortured artist, but the difference between him and them is that those "tortured artists" turn to drinking and smoking to cope with yaknow, real trauma, alongside the complexities of trying to integrate back into society socially after the fact. That's why their pain is often romanticized. Because of their genuine suffering and using art as a way to cope, their heartbreak bleeds onto the paper in a way that no one could inauthentically mimic.
