Dragon actually wasn’t standing around and actually used a tactic that would minimize the casualties of his men.
I’m waiting to hear why Dragon was at Loguetown. His character finally is doing something more than standing looking at the horizon.
I’m guessing he has the Wind-Wind Fruit and is the Sky God stand-in that was talked about in Skypeia. Luffy is the Sun God. My current guess of the One Piece is that it’s Joy Boys still beating heart.

Dragon operates like a guerilla fighter. That makes him uninteresting for the most part in comparison to other One Piece characters but that does not mean he is unimportant or weak. He is just not an idiot who pokes the bear more than he has to like Bartolomeo.
Also, in Skypeia they talked about the Sun God. The only other "God" that was talked about was the leader of Skypeia but that role is more of a mayor than a religion.

If Joy Boy can take his Haki and put it into a robot, what’s pulling a Kano on himself gonna do?
So what is Luffy going to do, put it in his own chest and fight the WG after obtaining Ultra Instinct Gear 6? Not sure how a still beating heart is meant to kickstart a great battle to engulf the world.
Hancock won’t be part of that group because Luffy is her husbando.
While the RA are making some gains, I don’t think the war is about to be won anytime soon, mainly because that would mean that the WG, the Celestial Dragons, and their respective structures, are all thrown out the window never to return. And if you ask me, that’s more endgame material Oda is waiting to do .

If Gol told Whitebeard, there is no reason he wouldn't whisper the secret to the guy he is trusting to raise his unborn Son, so Garp has to know.
Blackbeard also has a captive that can pull memories out of people and read them.
